Traitors (TV show)

This is big business now. To the point where artists will specifically release versions of their own songs and covers that geared towards sync. Love Island was really the big one that everyone wanted to get their song on.

In a previous job I’d be the one watching all the consumption data rolling in off the back of an TV play and pitching to streaming services to get them to playlist the songs.

I think a fair compromise is that once an episode has been BROADCAST (as opposed to released on-demand) there is no need for spoiler tags. If I wasn’t going to start watching for a couple of weeks, that would be on me, not on everyone else to protect me from spoilers.

Blurs please.

We don’t live in 1994. People watch things on catchup not live.

It costs you next to nothing to blur parts of your text and click to read. It might spoil someone else’s viewing. It’s just plain courtesy.

I would hate to think we’re now voting on whether to just add a tiny bit of friction to allow everyone to enjoy a thread regardless of their viewing “status”. It doesn’t feel very community focused.

As you say everyone watches at different paces, but where does it end?

Do we need to label each blurred out spoiler so people who’ve watched up to different points know which ones are safe to un-blurr?

I just don’t expect everyone else to use spoiler tags in order to cater to my pace of watching. That doesn’t sound very courteous to me.
I’d still be able to enjoy and add to the discussion when I’m caught up.

Either way I’m happy to roll with the community’s decision, hence my poll earlier. The Blurs seem to be winning right now, but @lpoolrob’s comment seemed like a reasonable middle ground to me.

Right after airing live isn’t a good suggestion IMO, not in 2024. I’d consider a week or so probably fine but the minute after airing is unreasonable.

I don’t know why this is even a thing suddenly. We’ve done many threads with blurs and spoiler alerts and coped just fine.

Certainly didn’t mean to make it a ‘thing’.

I don’t think there’s a right or wrong approach, just different preferences that I though might be worth discussing :person_shrugging:

Well in that case…

I was surprised who the traitors chose to join them, I thought they would choose the northern Irish lady (still leaning their names).

And It is a shame that Sonja went so early, looked like they would be fun.

In episode 2 one of the contestants mentioned that they thought that there was a mother and son within the group (like the boyfriend and girlfriend last year). But I’m not sure if they meant a real mother and son, or an older woman and younger male as traitors?

Well not sure if you saw episode 3 yet but… there actually is a mother and son, the northern Irish lady is the mum but Paul (who was suspected) is not the son. It’s Ross!!!

I was wondering if they would. I love the music in it.

That’s what I did last year when I binged my way through a large chunk of the series in one go, due to only starting it after the rave reviews here persuaded me it was worth a shot.

Typically, as I recall, I would start a paragraph with enough information to give spoiler-free context, then blur the important bits, thus allowing people to decide which ones they wanted to see.

I also used spoilers for some “what I think might happen next” posts to avoid upsetting people who would consider it a retroactive spoiler if I was right (see: people who were mad that GoT fans theories were correct).

I’ll no doubt try and take more or less the same aprons this year. FWIW, I found out today that iPlayer is only ahead for now, apparently from next week it’ll be synced to broadcast.

Yes, I have seen that today too. I think that is what happened last year - the first three dropped on demand then synced.

Finally finished all three episodes. Oh my.

Yep - I’m torn with what I want to happen next

On the one hand, talking very crudely, I’d like to be the meat in a Brian and Ross sandwich, so don’t want Brian to go, but I also like Diane. But but I also think the drama if Ash isn’t voted out and then Paul and Harry having to deal with them backstabbing her will also make it really interesting too…I don’t want any of them to go and thought surely Zach would be on the block for the whole ‘No-one go for the Shield!’ command in the task and then immediately going for it himself

I now I need to wait until next Wednesday :frowning:

Episode three…… WOW! @N26throwaway you need to catch up!

What’s the iPlayer release schedule? i.e. will the 4th episode be on iPlayer tonight, or will we have to wait for linear to catchup?

Linear as far as we know.

I’m not at all sure of these answers myself, but given the broadcast schedule for the Traitors it seems likely that each Uncloaked episode will cover more than one episode of the show, unlike the other examples where as those were weekly shows rather than daily there was a 1/1 relationship.

After a little Googling I have managed to uncover the broadcast schedule for Uncloaked over the next week (includes repeats):

And that’s the extent of my knowledge!

I’m sure it would be nice if they put it up early, but otherwise I suspect standard iPlayer protocols apply - you can watch ‘live’ if you watch the BBC2 channel stream at broadcast, otherwise it will be available ‘shortly after’ the original broadcast has finished (not sure exactly how long the BBC take to make programmes available these days. Within the hour? Hopefully there will be iPlayer aficionados out there who can better attest - I usually come to an iPlayer show no sooner than a day later than broadcast, so I’m not best placed to answer myself).

Pretty sure that Claudia said if there is another tie, that their fate would be decided by chance?

Yup that will happen

Sharing this from Ivan “this was your big flourish, and here’s the prestige” Brett, despite not having read it yet as I need to binge the episodes so far at the weekend:

(Contains spoilers, natch.)
