The Wallet/Bag Discussion

but it has a 30 year warranty so that softened the blow somewhat.

Claiming on it can be the fun bit…

I’m happy with my Compass card holder from Osprey.

“Fun” fact: The first ever real-world purchase on a Starling Debit Card was at Osprey in 2016. The famous purple handbag.

I do recommend their wallets:

I’ve been using a timbuk2 Authority Deluxe as a day back and it’s pretty good.

I’m currently looking for a new wallet and contemplating two Bellroy options:

I currently carry round 4 cards plus the Rolling Square Find My card and very occasionally a note or two.

Both wallets seem to have their advantages and I want something nice and sleek but was wondering whether anyone has recent experiences with either of these wallets?

Part of me is tempted to order both and return the one I don’t like but thought I’d seek feedback on here first!

I’m still using the Card sleeve, now over 2 years old. Love it. 6 cards and the odd note easily stored in a minimal area

Thanks to Google wallet it gets very little use, other than being moved from one pair of jeans/pants to the next every day (and yes, the Flex card - along with most others - doesn’t cope as well with said movements!)

While I like the design/colours of the Under Cover, it’d realistically be too bulky for me personally in the normal daily ‘pocket-to-pocket’ routine.

Trying both and then deciding is the best plan :+1:

Such a shame they shut, I have a messenger back back from 2013/14 maybe, bought when I visited their showroom on a whim.

I didn’t get a ‘blame the government’ vibe though - I read their message as… The cost to make everything in the UK is bloody hard, and it simply costs too much. Suspect their options are “increase prices to cover costs” - which when some of the bags are like £300… Hard pill for consumers to swallow… Outsource to foreign manufacturing… or Close…

Sad times either way.

Looks fine to me!

I’ve had mine about as long and it’s been through the washing machine once too, survived!

Currently 9 but it varies a lot depending on where I am/going. Some of those need to be removed as they are from travelling; just haven’t been bothered to.

I can’t face having more than two cards in the centre of my slim sleeve. Generally speaking I have Monzo (personal and joint) in the outside pockets and a third party credit case (just in case) along with a folded note or two in the centre pocket.

On the hunt for a smart backpack for commutes, any ideas?

Was looking at Thule as they do look nice but they’re about £120, not sure if they’re worth the money.

Fjallraven Skule or Salkan Daypack

I’m just going to keep recommending salkan.

I also like the fjallraven ones but they’ve become a bit cliche.

Thule make really good stuff, my duffel is Thule and it’s almost invincible! I do think a good bag is worth it, cheaper ones always let water in, or the zip breaks or something.

The daypack is doing my head in tbh as a stand alone bag. It’s too narrow at the bottom and the opening is such a faff. I’m only using it now as an extra bag to attach to the carry on for longer trips.

It is great quality though.

I know what you mean about being narrow. I like a slimline backpack for my daily commute so it’s fine for me, but at 20L overall it’s probably a bit small for some.

20L would be ok if it didn’t narrow so much at the bottom I think.

I’ve had mine for a while now and with one minor thing I’d change I’d always recommended it:
