The Queen

Agreed, the royals are flying from different parts of the country, definitely not something that is done when someone is tired.

I hope she recovers and that it’s not as serious as it sounds.

As someone who is married to a nurse, I sadly know what those kind of calls normally mean. I just hope I’m wrong.

I can’t help but notice that none of the news is saying ‘we hope she gets better’, ‘sending her wishes for a recovery’ etc. That’s just not the tone.

Some of the news occasionally slips into past tense.

Pretty sure we are just waiting the announcement now

I noticed that a minute ago and expected a sort of correction but didn’t come and instead they are talking about succession.

Yeah, that’s definitely the way I see it going, sadly. The medical staff will likely know that things have gone from recovery to “making things comfortable” and probably wouldn’t have summoned the family to be there if it were the former.

All the signs point to London Bridge falling, sadly. News casters on every station in black shirts and ties, changing of the guard cancelled for tomorrow, full family called in, talking about succession and referring to HRH in the past tense, MET officers having leave cancelled…

Really just waiting for it to be official now.

I had the same “we are making them comfortable but you should come see them now” requests before both my gran and my brother died. Sadly it’s usually right at the end.

Though as she isn’t in London, that particular plan won’t be called upon.

I’m not going to speculate on what precisely may be wrong, that’s probably in poor taste (and Nicholas Witchel is getting pelters for his specific speculation on TV coverage). But will just say that I too have found myself in the same situations as @coffeemadman, so the gathering of the clan is an awful big sign to me.

There was a part of the article that details what happens if she was to die whilst in Scotland.

The BBC are just narrating the weather, roads and the countryside and all sorts now to fill the time until they have more info.

It makes no difference as to where she is, either way when / if she dies, the well rehearsed plans get put into play, doesn’t matter what they are called at end of the day.

Yes, I shared an article above about Operation Unicorn.

I didn’t realise it would make a difference if it were to sadly happen in Scotland or England.

There would be a separate plan for Windsor Castle as well, though I don’t know what that’s called. Each plan will have very specific details relevant to the particular location (Buckingham Palace, Balmoral, Windsor Castle).

The BBC website has also just changed to all black instead of the regular red logos. It’s looking like sad news.

Not seeing that on tablet or laptop. R-

Not for me.

Black for me - the BBC homepage though, not the news live updates page.

The media plan is still the same I think. Drip feed news about ‘concern’ so it doesn’t come out of the blue.

But there are specifics about policing and funeral arrangements.

The live feed hasn’t said anything.

Ahh my bad

You had me panicked I missed something then!
