Okay - next super holiday planning has started. Has anyone been to:
- Tallinn
- Riga
- Vilnius
- Helsinki
Ideas welcome some of them I’m potentially at for one night, or two…
More specifically, the route: Riga → Helsinki → Tallinn → Vilnius → Riga

Any reason you’re doing super holidays instead of regular holidays? They sound like a great (but tiring) experience
Ultimately, cheaper - internal flights in Europe are cheap, and as I’m solo travelling, I want to keep busy by viewing a city in a couple days & them move on to the next one.
Worked really well for the other trip, and want to apply similar logic here… but may reassess the countries
I’m not a Flighty hater, I’m just jealous!
That makes sense. I never considered that internal flights might be cheaper, given the UK has very high Air Passenger Duty. Might consider something like this for my next holiday.
I’ve been to Helsinki a few times.
Pack your thermals. Then pack someone else’s thermals. For your use.
If your taxi’ing, restaurant’ing, bar’ing then you’ll be fine. If you’re walking to take in the sights and sub-zero atmosphere, take the entire stock of Go Outdoors’ thermals.
(Nice place though - very ‘European’)
I can give you loads of ideas for all of them - give me a private message about stuff you like and what time of year you’re going
If you want to see more of the countryside consider trains instead of flying?
I’ve been to all of them, the Baltics as one trip and Helsinki as a separate one.
Important question. Why that route? Helsinki is well connected to the UK. Start there, ferry to Tallinn, then bus/fly to Riga and then bus/fly to Vilnius. There’s no direct train connections between the capitals.
If you’re flying Air Baltic then yeah the flights to go Riga, but look at Finnair to Helsinki.
Each of the cities have a very different charm to them. I enjoyed each of them and spent two days in each. You could easily spend more in each.
Hey big spender!
I’m going to miss travel next year. Having to concentrate on house buying
The most stressful but also potentially rewarding thing!
And there was me feeling grateful I could get away three times this year. Of all of them, Mexico was by far the most amazing one. Those Pyramids…
And yes, I did sniggle at the in-flight description saying only xx miles left to CUN
Damn so many using Flighty. Feel left out
Flighty is good, other than my complaints about never having gate info. But that’s probably an airport issue.
