Merry Christmas
Couldn’t find a thread to wish ya all a Yuletide, this was the closest
oh dear
It was very expensive for me last time I went - I had my wallet stolen!
Very common there along with mobile theft.
Go to Tempelhof and ride bikes down the old runway in Berlin
We just drove from Germany to Prague. Good road, though maybe not a runner this time of year as it’s over the mountains.
Well, the worst thing that can happen is that you get to spend longer in Geneva, Berlin or Prague which doesn’t sound too bad. Just make sure you’ve got good travel insurance that will cover any expenses of that and you are good (if it’s through a tour operator you may even be covered by them)
I really don’t know why the German rail network gets so much praise, every time I’ve had the misfortune of taking their trains there’s been some sort of delay, some significantly worse than others. Some relatively minor delays that result in missed connections etc.
You’ll get there and ultimately you’ll be fine, but you just need to accept the fact that things might not go to plan and you might have to go with the flow and be a little spontaneous with onward planning. If you can be at peace with that, then you’ll be ok. Ultimately it’s all part of the fun anyway!
It used to be the paragon of rail travel, but it got utterly slated by journalists covering the Euros.
Seems to be a familiar story of under investment etc.
Loooooooooove Berlin.
Yes plenty of good quality, safe, segregated cycle infrastructure. But even where you share road space drivers are courteous and respectful unlike my experiences in the UK.
As for renting bikes I think we just used one of the ones on the street, maybe Lime or Bolt?
Ah the good old ‘If it’s Boeing I’m not going’.
It’s not impossible in this part of the world since Airbus have such a strong market share here (plus Embraer and a few others). There are quite a few new A350’s being delivered for long haul too. I was on one of BA’s ones earlier this year and that was very nice.
I detest the 737 but that’s purely as a customer not the plane itself.
I don’t think (Max issues side) Boeing is inherently less safe as they meet required standards.
The only thing I have a tiny issue with is reports that Boeing have been finding ways to cut costs and corners within the legal framework but to the extent some employees have questioned the safety of their ventures. But these are all very rumour-ville stories so probably hold little to them.
I think the FAA would beg to differ given the safety failings they’ve picked up in their inspections.
Clearly nothing to stop Boeing plans flying though.
I’d still fly Boeing. I am still flying Boeing next month. I prefer Airbus planes but I think Airbus make nicer planes in general.
Oh don’t get me wrong I don’t think they are in any way brilliant. But the issues are more specific than just “Boeing”. If I had reservations it would be limited to 737-MAX or brand new Boeing planes.
If I’m flying on a 20 year old 777 flown by a European airline then chances are no issues at all.
I don’t know for sure but I know that different airlines service planes around the world so it might not be Boeing/Airbus. BA service their A380s in Manila for example.
