The Great Holiday Topic 🏖️

I’m looking at going in November. I was just going to book into Motel One. I use it all the time in Manchester and it’s okay.

Unless you’re looking to stick around in the hotel a lot it’ll be more than fine.

Yes, Motel One was the other hotel I debated. Looks more conventionally hotel-y but reviews say rooms are tiny and so I just went with the cheaper of the two.

Odd that Copenhagen is so expensive. More so than Stockholm. Wish they had a Yotel. The Manchester one is really nice.

Currently in the Balkans and it is so cheap. We are paying less than £50 a night for 4+ star hotels (including breakfast) for three people. Bonkers value.

I’ve stayed at the Marriott which was perfectly fine really. It also helps that my status gets me into the lounge so there was free food for dinner and breakfast and in the evening free alcohol which helped with the cost of Eurovision.

If you like more boutique feels then the Nobis Hotel is lovely.

Realise it’s mute now you’ve booked it though :joy:

Amex never gave me the Marriott status with my Plat card… otherwise that would’ve been a good option.

You can book a room with access which is around £250 a night. Regular rooms from about £160 a night.

Both too much for my purposes. If I wasn’t going alone I’d pay it but alone I’m not looking to spend quite so much.

Ahoy! I’ve been quiet this last week as I spent my birthday up on the Isle of Skye and fell in love with the place. Will drop a bunch of snaps in here shortly whilst I catch up :eyes:

Anyone else been to Skye?

I’ve been to portree and also stayed up at Culnacnoc for new years before. Crazy drive when it’s pitch black.

Once years ago, bloody love it up there and have often mooted the idea of moving there :eyes:

But mainly stick around the Glencoe area

Yep, as part of our west coast road trip that me & my friends did. We drove the full island, and stayed on the top north westerly tip for a night! Was a great place, and I need to go back, it’s beautiful.

My girlfriend has been sending me links for homes ever since we got back

You do!

I stayed near Dunvegan and have become addicted to the bread from the oldest bakery on Skye. Their loaves are essentially huge rolls/baps/cobs/etc :bread:

Also for the whisky lovers/likers

This was a lovely wee dram in front of the fire.

The Simpsons gif. Carl Carlson stands at a bar. He holds his fingers to his mouth and kisses them, like a chef’s kiss.

I did the Skye trail in May. Absolutely stunning island. So much nature (eagles, whales, sea otters…). Hoping to go back next year!

Can anyone suggest any good countries and/or all inclusive hotels suitable for a young family. They’re 3 & 5 Year old.

Flight time from Manchester under 5 hours, and a hotel with a kids club that has lots of activities :teddy_bear:

Nothing so far compares to when we went to Antalyia and stayed in a hotel that had an absolutely amazing kids club. It had a special kids kitchen, woodworking shop, water park, arts and crafts centre, ice cream factory, snack bar, outdoor climbing, kids shows, kids games and that’s just to name a few.

Honestly, take a look at Cyprus. It’s a very safe place, so many amazing hotels (no idea on kids clubs), and they use UK plugs :stuck_out_tongue: What’s not to like.
