The Great Holiday Topic 🏖️

I have had my week at Pontins already, so no more holidays planned for me this year.

Thank you. It’s my third Various Voices, they happen every 4 years each time in a host city.

Just got home from Latvia, Estonia and Finland. Was a fantastic trip and can wholeheartedly recommend all places.

We are off to Porto Santo Island on a now rearranged date next Month. If you’ve never heard of Porto Santo it is 27 miles North East of Madeira and is a small island with a superb beach that is about 7 miles long. Went in 2018 and planned to go back in 2020 but that got cancelled so trying again this year.

There’s not really a great deal there but it’s a very relaxing place and I shall be spending the week relaxing and drinking the local Coral Beer :sunglasses:

Hope to get away in September but not sure where to and then Canaries in November

We’re looking at going there. We’ve been to Madeira a few times now and you can get a ferry from one to the other, which is what keeps reminding us it’s there.

Thanks for the inspiration. And Coral Beer is ace, I wish you could get that in the UK!

Never been to Madeira but will go there at some point.

Porto Santo was a bit of an accident the 1st time we went as we’d never heard of it but the Hotel we stopped in was lovely and everything was laid back and relaxing.

Main town Vila Baleira is close by but not much there and that’s part of it’s charm

Get the ferry! It’s pretty decent and you could do a trip to Funchal and back in one day.

If you’re looking for any Scottish loch getaways I highly recommend Loch Awe - I went there for my birthday weekend and it was amazing. Small hut by the water.

One of my favourite places! Love it there. Went canoeing years back and woke up about five am to a beautiful sunrise, and no-one (except for three other lads snoring in the tents behind me) for about 5 miles.

Definitely going to check this out

Hadn’t thought of that but it’s something to consider. Also been looking at canal barges.

We recently got back from Kemer in Turkey, which is on the southern Mediterranean coast.

It was our first holiday since COVID kicked off and our first family holiday with 2 young kids too :airplane:

We stayed in a very fancy 5* resort that was much needed and very nice to have everything catered for after such long time with no break.

We’re going to look at booking somewhere else for next year soon :beach_umbrella:

Been to Kemer area a few times and the 5* resorts are great with a good selection of ala’carte restaurants

Rixos Sungate.

Loads of pools, restaurants, spa, water park, shopping centre - all sorts in there. The kids club is phenomenal, there is so much for them to do - our kids were doing woodworking, dance classes, cooking classes and all sorts

As a result of staying there you get free access to Turkeys largest theme park too. I think they own it as well

Travelling this year seems much more expensive than previous years. Not sure if I’ll go abroad, might do a staycation somewhere.
