The Eurovision Song Contest

I’m going to move to Chase (no, not really) because somebody found the original post offensive for some reason TWO years after it was originally posted. (Facepalm x 1000) Yet, the thread has been going and going for those two years without incident.

Anyway, this year (2024) I didn’t watch the Eurovision song contest as I usually do. Wasn’t in the mood. So I created my own song instead entirely using A.I. Controversial, but not controversial.

If they do win, that will be the reason.

Had a bit of a whiplash moment when I walked onto the room and The Rasmus were on. Guess they’ve finally come out of the shadows, then.

I was VERY confused by Norway.

I actually quite like Ukraine’s entry. Catchy.

Literally chuckled to myself over this for a minute

Is this a cunning plan to lumber us with an expensive white elephant while everyone has no money?

Or, given the judging panels have decided they don’t want to appear too political, is the public vote going to come in and swing it for Ukraine?

I fall asleep for 30 minutes and wake up to us currently in first place. What multiverse madness is this?!

Could explain why some of the satellite feeds are mysteriously broken:

But… could still end up we’d have to host :grimacing:

I don’t think many would be wanting to go to Ukraine any time soon due to the current situation.

Maybe we will offer to host on their behalf

Eurovision at The O2 would be incredible.

I imagine a decision would need to be made fairly soon. Will be interesting to see what happens

Really good result for the U.K. No surprise Ukraine won and I’m happy they did (we all stand with them!) but great that we came second! And we’ll probably host too

I think Ukraine will make every effort to host it, obviously depending how long the war drags on for, but it’s a massive show of back to business for the country if they manage.

There’s quite a few embassies that have already moved back into Kyiv.

I can’t see that really, planning needs to start pretty soon, it’s a bit absurd to expect Ukraine to put together a Eurovision song contest planning team when they are still at war.

Zelensky has said he wants to host it ‘one day’ in a rebuilt Mariupol.

Interesting, this says he’s said next year on Facebook, other news agencies are reporting he said ‘one day in a rebuilt Mariupol’ on instagram, which seems a bit more realistic to me, eg Eurovision win brings 'incredible happiness' to Ukraine - BBC News

Even if the war ended tomorrow, seems very unlikely Mariupol would be in a state to host Eurovision this time next year.

Ah glad I missed the trash event  one bonus to not really keeping up with live broadcasts on TV :joy:

Over 12 hours later and I’m still struggling to understand why you’d call a wolf Keith
