Switching out with pots

I have a number of DD paying out from different pots, just to check if I do a switch out of Monzo, I believe all the DD’s are actually on the main account, so they will all transfer?
Or do I need to move the DD’s back to the main account first.

You’ll be fine, I believe the money actually transfers from the pot and is taken from the main account.

You’ve only got one account number and sort code on your Monzo account.

To add to the above, if you have any card payments attached to Pots these won’t move across, so you’ll need to update your card details with most merchants like Netflix, Amazon, etc.

Curious, where is it you’re moving to?

Probably Starling when they let me back. Thanks for the reminder about virtual cards as I have several and I would just replace them with Starling equivalents (although I had those shonky shapes on the cards, much prefer the ability to change the card colour)

I have Monzo and Starling. Best of both worlds.

But then I have double-figures of other current accounts too

Thanks all for your replies. @PaulUK I also used to managed multiple bank accounts, Santander for Bills, Club Lloyds, RBS Rewards, Algbra for commuting etc.

I’ve really appreciated the simplicity of now having ‘just’ 3 accounts, Monzo, Santander, Natwest, but having to pay for virtual cards plus not getting interest on my accounts means I’m up for a change

I have thought about reducing the number of current accounts I hold but, while they serve me a purpose (earn me money or perks) I’ll keep them going until they change the eligibility requirements and it becomes a chore.

I think your patience level must be higher than mine, I had a chase account but never used it as I couldn’t be bothered to move money across.

I just have Monzo (current acc, joint and flex) plus I have nationwide as a bricks and mortar bank just in case anything were to happen with Monzo. I also use nationwide regular saver as it pays 6.5%, current account and their credit card. Always good having savings in a separate bank. I do have Ulster bank and Bank of Scotland but to be honest I don’t use them as I can’t be bothered with the skipping from bank to bank for random stuff. I like to keep things simple.

Yeah I am currently coming around to this realisation having got down from 5 accounts to 3, shortly to be 2 (Monzo & Santander). I am currently conflicted by Santander as I need to move money to pay my tube fare and get the cashback but I wonder if it is truly worth it, or I should stick with using my ‘Commuting’ virtual card with Monzo… it’s just one less thing to worry about

Yeah I get that. To be honest all the cashback cards are pretty useless with their low rates and limits to how much you can get a month. It’s the effect of “ooo cashback” but realistically people don’t earn that much from a purchase. Your better off using voucher sites or if working in healthcare get the blue light card or the ode card which saves you money.
