Suspicious activity message apparently from Monzo - beware the scam

I can’t possibly post the fictional email address I entered on a public forum… :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

It must be designed to reject the first attempt to make it look more real

It’s quite a good fake site. It looks like it’s Monzo and not accepting the first password is a smart plan

Forward the text to 7726 and your mobile provider will investigate and get it taken down.

Sadly, there are too many of these about, fortunately never fallen for one as real as they can seem sometimes.

The people that do fall for them I feel sorry for.

Using :android: Messages, long-press on the message, click on the 3 dots (top-right) and select forward.
Or you can also copy the body of an existing text into a new text, to send to someone else.

Not sure about iOS!

Got the same text

iOS long press on the text, select more and then an arrow appears on the bottom right. Tap that and you get the forward screen

Just copy the whole message, hold your finger on it, copy, then new sms, to 7726 and paste the message then it’ll reply asking for the number it came from.

If you’re using Google’s Messages and you mark a new conversation as spam, it actually sends it off to 7726 behind the scenes for you
