Starling Feedback

That seems to come up over and over on here and I’m not quite sure I get it. Is moving DDs hard to some people?

Fair enough, I found the process easy until right now. I just decided to try Relish Broadband - I just KNEW they’d get things wrong. Sure enough, they don’t know Monzo’s sort code. No shock. Avoid them, they’re awful anyway.

Not hard, but I guess depends on how many you have. I have quite a few for bills etc, so yes it is a pain. I could set aside time to do it, or just set it up in the app on Starling and they do it all for me.

It’s not a competition, merely a valid observation. Maybe it keeps coming up on the Monzo forum is that they haven’t got CASS for some reason?? Only they can answer why.

Definitely a valid observation, I’m all for removing any friction at all - I just find it odd that it seems to be such a strong sticking point for some people. In the time it takes to write a couple posts about it, you’d have them switched

If only it were that easy. Surely if that were the case why would they have introduced CASS?

Reducing friction is CASS.

I’m sure you know the stats about people not moving banks. They make it suitably difficult to try to discourage you. Not having CASS at a new bank I would have thought was an oversight. It might only be used once, but Monzo need customers to survive. If those potential customers view it’s a pain to move their own DD, and they don’t move, Monzo lose. It make no odds to me, I might move to Monzo, or just kick back and let Starling take the strain.

I guess if you have multiple DD’s it can be a huge pain to message/ ring/ sort everything out especially given how some companies don’t recognise or accept Monzo or Starling as a bank in their outdated systems and we have to constantly link BACS. I only have two, so CASS would be pointless and probably more hassle.

I think CASS offers protection too if anything goes wrong or charges are incurred.

If you close your account with CASS they will also put a redirect to your new account for a while to make sure get everything.

As soon as CASS is on Monzo I’m moving fully, I just don’t have time or patience to move manually

I found it useful to move manually as I could check each one before moving the next across. Not sure I’d want to sort out over 10 if some of them weren’t working :grinning:

I moved all mine manually, just logged in to each portal and changed bank details, simple.

I hear very mixed things about Relish. Why chose them if they’re awful? Is there a lack of choice?

I signed a one year contract and I chose them out of laziness. Can’t wait
for it to end. Awful service.

Starling Bank is the first mobile only bank to be granted approval from the PRA and FCA to offer account holders direct access to a wide range of financial products, including loans, insurance, mortgages, ISAs and other investment products, all from within its app.

This is the next step in Starling Bank’s plan to use Open Banking regulations to give financial control back to its customers, and follows on from existing partnerships with companies such as Moneybox, Flux, Yolt and Yoyo Wallet. Building upon being the first licenced bank with a PSD2-ready API, these new permissions enable the bank to deliver the next stage of its Marketplace proposition - access to providers of financial services and products from within their banking app.

I can’t wait to see Monzo’s planned marketplace!

Exciting to see Open Banking starting to properly take shape.

Are they running before they can walk?

Should they stand still? Are they not just building out (and I’ll use this since it seems to be the in thing) their MVP ?

They can not iterate an MVP quickly enough for the concept to work or for it benefit consumers.

They’re keen with the first challenger bank to… announcements whilst the basic functionality of their app remains largely neglected. RBS and FD have better app functionality than Starling (and Monzo).

They also seem to be having some customer service issues again.
