I’d love to have a separate list of payees in my personal and joint accounts - they’re separate distinct accounts, with separate distinct payees. I know this is something Monzo can do as business payees are separate. Or at least present a toggle to merge or not.
Seconded. I got confused the other day because of this and almost paid someone from the wrong account.
I’m actually tempted to pull together an uber list of all the payment suggestions as the entire area needs work and a lot of it would, I think, sit together if you look to improve the UX from start to end.
The payees populate across from one to the other? That’s as weird as Monzo not providing overdrafts for joint accounts.
I dunno if they are ‘populated’ as much as there is no distinction. I can switch between Personal and Joint and the list stays the same, more that they AREN’T distinct I think.
Sounds like a great idea to me
Hit the top left button on the payments page (the shuffle icon) and you can switch between your personal and joint account. This changes the regular payees e.t.c. It doesnt change the contacts in all contacts though.
Yeah, at the moment, it seems like the payees ‘belong’ to the Monzo user, rather than the account. So I have payees in my sole account, which I can see in the joint, but my wife cannot.
TBH, the whole payees/contacts screen is a mess. I also really hate the whole ‘contacts’ idea.
Ahh handy, but I’ll still have a moment of freaking out when i see ‘my’ payees listed when I’m in our Joint Account.
Having payees per account surely is more logical? An extreme example maybe but our Joint Account is entirely direct debits bar ONE payee (our dog walker). Yet I get offered everyone I’ve ever paid from my Personal Account as an option. It’s just weird…
Yeah I understand both ways though. I do want to easily pay someone ive paid on my personal account also on my joint account. e.g. paid cleaner through personal, set up joint account, dont want to add cleaner again and its good its already there.
I can see why that is useful, for sure. Which is why a toggle/import type function would be good, rather than just lumping them all together by default.
Something like “select the payees to share with Joint Account”, for example.
Yup, I’m sure there is a smart way to do this
For sure. The contacts/payee screen feels like a hangover from when Monzo was purely a single account/prepaid card, and hasn’t really been re-thought/updated with the introduction of Joint Accounts
The payee screen is lagging behind now and hasn’t seen any love for a while. Agree with this thread topic and there’s plenty more that Monzo could do to Improve payee screen as been discussed in lots of other threads. Wishful thinking
From memory, the payee stuff was re-written immediately before the New Nav project kicked off. It seems fair to say that the results haven’t been as well received though.
It was very minor revisionism if that was the case (I can’t remember) but all the issues I had with payee management are still there.
In short, it’s shite.
Visually it was a new look I think, it introduced the three tabs and the ‘Recent’ etc lists of payees. It produced the ability for multiple accounts per person (but not merge…). I thought of it as quite a revamp of what was there at the time.
