Sending cheque by courier

Hello. I’m sure this is fine but wanted to confirm as I’m sitting with a big tax repayment and thinking of using DHL/UPS to send it.
Steve.

Not sure you can as it’s freepost address? Needs a postcode and building number etc if I remember correctly.

I think Lloyds has a £10k cheque limit?

You’re best just using Royal Mail tracked post … details in app.

I thought HMRC issued payments via bank transfer these days? I seem to recall the last time I had one, I simply had to request a transfer via their website. It was easy and quick.

If you want to pay in a cheque, my advice would be to use one of the traditional banks that lets you photograph it and get it paid in almost immediately

It’s not immediate, normally end of next working day.

Agree with others, worth having a bank account with niche features like branches and app-based pay in without a ridiculously low limit. Natwest, RBS and Halifax will all pay you something each month to hold a ‘Reward’ account and jump through a couple of arbitrary hoops. Lloyds will give you a basic Disney+ sub, a magazine sub or some cinema tickets. It’s a no-brainer having at least one of these, if not all, IMHO.

Monzo has in app cheque paying in.

I think the OP is mostly referring to a high value cheque.

£500 max. Above that, mail it &

Edited to make my intention a little clearer.

Maybe one day Monzo partners with a bank to handle deposits on their behalf :slightly_smiling_face:
