Called it. I win imaginary Monzo points
You know that youāve deliberately mis-read that? Itās cats and pineapple on a pizza, silly!
Very exciting, even more so when Monzo launch in the US!
It will even work in the reverse for unsociable hours for the US staff
I hope the culture stays as strong there as it is here as thatās what really makes Monzo :mondo:
I could not see a comma
Cats and pineapple on a pizza, Iād be spitting the fur out!
aww I was hoping you was going unvail the new mascot called Betty:
Great news though! - woo! Monzo is slowly but surely going to be everywhere in the world!!
Havenāt you already been doing this for months from Vegas?
Biggest anti climax since I was watching topless darts for the first time in the 90s and my mum burst in the room and asked what Iām watching
This is great, as long as we wont be exposed to any āamericanismsā
lol I remember that⦠it was on L!ve TV wasnāt it?
Calm down mom
Hopefully the new Monzonauts there will be spreading the Monzo love ready for when a US launch takes place
What ācolorā is the Monzo card?
Awesome! When do our plane tickets arrive to come and see the place?

Itās true!
For the entire of April and a little bit of May, I was part of a small but killer team sent out to Las Vegas to open our new office there. Hereās me in the City of Sin, soaking it all in (with my Monzo shirt on, naturally )
Lots more news to come on this, but it was an AWESOME trip and I am truly, truly humbled to everyone involved for letting me be part of it. Not least the Project Lead, Dillon Van Auken, and our training leads Oliver Zarandi and Tristan Manetta.
I was tasked with leading all non-technical training - by that I mean teaching all of our new Las Vegas hires about our incredible Monzo culture, from Radical Transparency, to Ethical Banking, to the history of the company, to our amazing Community Forum, our culture of Feedback and 1:1s and MUCH more besides!
It was an absolutely amazing experience out in the desert, we have some incredible staff there who weāll be introducing to you all very soon, and to literally build an office up from nothing, and teach everybody about a product thatās completely new to them, and that they canāt actually use yet in their own country, was a difficult but hugely amazing and rewarding experience. There were LOTS of challenges - including things weāve literally never faced in the UK - but we overcame everything brilliantly!
Weāll be sharing pictures of the office and the staff members there soon (you WILL be jealous of the view ) and weāre hoping to do a Q&A soon with of the Project Leads who will be able to tell you everything down to extreme details.
Weāve had and continue to have UK staff over there on a continual basis in rotation, and Iām happy to say that our Vegas COps are doing an AMAZING job. Some of you may even have talked to some of them in the last few months on support without even realising it! Weāve truly made it a seamless experience (they are banned from using the phrase āchecking accountā
)
We had an incredible, incredible time out there as a staff and itās created a great bond, not just between the US team and the UK teams, but with everyone involved in the project. One of my personal highlights was filming and editing a video of the staff and the office to share with London and Cardiff at our weekly Company All-Hands! Amongst many other things.
So many stories I could share but thereās lots more to come!
Good to see what will come of this new office!
Would be interested to hear more details on some of these, either from you or in the Project Lead Q&A!
Did you test the gambling blocker function whilst in Vegas?
Would it even block you from buying food and drink in a casino (considering the merchant is the casino itself)?
This wasnāt implemented until after I came back!
Generally in the casinos, the bars and restaurants are their own branded places within the space and so their merchant categories would be correct.
This is why I no longer have to work 7pm to 4am
Fun fact: my buddy on the graveyard bit from 2am to 4am actually worked remotely from Canada so I guess we actually had a Vancouver āhome officeā first
Iāve started writing color like that because iām constantly using it for css/scss and every time I do it outside of coding iām always like
Same issue here annoyingly. center
