Scheduled payment from pot is transactionally messy

Good morning

One of the issues i have is that the pay bill from pot doesnt actually pay it from the pot. Whilst i understand the pots are not accounts and ultimately the money does come from the main account not a pot, the transactional mess makes it much harder to follow. This makes it much harder to validate payments that have gone out. About 25 scheduled payments creates 75 transactional records which is very messy

My idea is

  1. Hide the transfer from pot transaction in pot list
  2. Hide the transfer from pot in current account list
  3. Show bill as being paid from the pot for tracking

Additionally i know there is the added feature that if the bill is higher than you had it can then use you main account balance. I personally do not like this option i would prefer my main account to be protected from higher bills.

As a compromise in addition to the above of making it show aa its being paid from a pot and removing 2 thirds of the transaction records. On the pot settings you could add a switch
"Auto transfer additional funds from main account "
This could then show a transfer to the pot under the guise of supporting to make the payment. This would give the best of both worlds, i would turn it off as i prefer the fact its an isolated pot so if a bill comes in higher then it will show insufficient funds rather than just taking the money.

I understand that virtual cards already come from the pot, the auto transfer could potentially be used for that too but primarily its the scheduled and direct debit payments that cause the mess.

Happy for thoughts but i just feel this is cleaner and adds the option to limit your scheduled payments to the pot rather than using balance if a bill has gone higher. For me i travel alot so if something came out higher than i was expecting it could cause me issues if i suddenly tried to use my card and couldnt becauae a bill was higher.

Have a great day
