Thanks , although you get cash back on utility bills for the 123 too, with some earning a higher 2% or 3%, so 123 is still slightly better in that category.

This didn’t age well, for anyone who missed it… the 123 lite account is being closed and existing customers are being moved to their standard (no fee and no cashback) current account. Santander Changes MSE

It feels like they are souring the milk on these accounts.

Probably to get more profit to make it more attractive to sell

That’s a shame. Going by their online calculator my direct debit cashback will drop from £55/year to £16/year (after accounting for fees). Will probably switch my bills to Zopa (no fees, 2% cashback, capped at £30).

I did consider moving everything over to Zopa for the cashback but it’s a faff to switch them all over. I think I have about 18 or 19 to switch them and I’ve just moved them all into one bank finally.

I’m terrible for swapping between banks and really I need to stop and concentrate on one or two for a while.

In the case of Santander, I’ll have to see if they do close up shop, as I have a children’s saving account there that family and god parents pay into.

Bit of an app update.

My Santander Credit card connected account stopped working over a week ago - Monzo support told me to speak to Santander - any else been able to raise the issue properly?

Funny coincidence (?) today.

Making a purchase with my Santander card with Apple Pay, I was prompted for the first time ever (I think) to use my Passcode to open Wallet.

Did that, made the payment and the terminal crashed and had to be rebooted.

They wouldn’t let me go until it had rebooted because they couldn’t see that the payment had gone through and wouldn’t believe Wallet showing that it had.

It asks for passcode if Face ID fails.

It won’t prompt unless FaceID failed. It’s not a thing to prompt for it in any other situation.

Hey guys, anyone have experience with decreased credit limits with Santander? Dads banked and had credit lines them for a little over two decades, first and only bad event on his credit file was a few months back when he switched current account to NatWest and missed a Santander CC payment, the direct debit to pay it didn’t transfer over properly, but he resolved it the first time they contacted him

Thinking maybe a recent Amex credit limit increase might have caused it? His limit with Santander was around £7.6k and slashed to £800 so essentially useless, letter this morning but app still shows the same old limit

Anyone handled the process of getting them to rethink it? Assuming they’ll ask for statements etc which would be all fine

They do review the limits from time to time, I’ve had overdrafts reduced by them in the past to zero, when I’ve not used the account for a while.

Was he using the credit card much?

Had a few subscriptions coming out each month, but just seen that he nearly maxed it out last month paying a builder via F&F,PayPal for work on the house

Although he did pay the balance in full, I think that probably spooked them :grimacing:

First time in months he’s been anywhere near that limit though, and he does always pay in full

They cancelled my overdraft half a year ago with a month notice.. and now they refuse to offer me one

This is an anomaly, isn’t it?

You can see that the pending amount is £645.16.

But.

If you add up the pending amounts it’s a negative number because one of them is a large refund.

Another PITA is that once I switch to another app, when I switch back the pending amount disappears until I force close the app and reopen it.

Edit: This happens if I navigate away from the Credit Card section to a Current Account page, for example.

Santander UK to acquire TSB Bank from Banco Sabadell.

3rd biggest player in UK by current account volume? Seems Santander UK are indeed staying in the UK!

Yes…for now.
