Ruled out by the “previously received a switcher incentive”.
I have done all the banks I have been eligible for, including Santander, so get excluded from most switches announced recently, through individual bank or banking group criteria.
I wonder how many are now in the same position as me.
It used to be you could “have another go” about every five years, but lots of banks now shutting it down through the “ever received” exclusion.
Existing customers have to go in branch!
This has been a condition before and apparently, some people could call up instead.
Also, couldn’t you just open a new Everyday Current Account and switch into that? Santander only says about going into a branch if you are switching to an existing account, not if you are an existing customer.
I also noticed that HSBC require a bank visit if a customer for their switch too. Very odd to me.
As an existing customer in the last round of Santander incentives (the £160 one) in autumn 2022, the terms said to go into a branch. When I went in I was told to call and the branch staff didn’t know why the instruction was to come in. (My suspicion was to upsell products.)
My other half doesn’t like the spots or tactile change in the card but I’m rather fond of it.
I’m eagerly awaiting their updated app though, I’m 50-50 on their current one.
Can you point me towards it?
They’ve updated their images on Google Play so the roll out must be starting soon!
I have the Pilot app and it works still for me, and it’s so much better; better than a lot of banking apps I’ve seen so far.
Mine changed over this afternoon on Android to the new app.
I haven’t posted in this thread until now, but I have to say I couldn’t disagree with you more!
I find the new app extraordinarily clunky and awkward; every single screen takes an age to load and shows an irritating spinner transition all too often. It’s far slower than the old app and basic functionality like viewing a list of transactions or making a payment is far worse.
If I didn’t have a brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max, then I’d be thinking it’s my phone - but it’s clearly not. The old app runs quicker on my old iPhone X!
Couldn’t disagree with you more!
Almost everything in the final version of the Pilot I used was quick and worked well. Never had an issue making a payment or viewing transactions and found it all really easy to use. And this is on a fairly budget Samsung Galaxy that is a few years old!
I wonder if this is an Android vs iOS issue?
It’s always been slow on iOS for me, whereas I don’t think it was ever so slow on Android?
It was definitely slow on Android when I first got it. Even typing in the amount for a transaction lagged, but it improved with each update and seemed fine to me after the last update.
One thing I’m finding really slow (unacceptably so) is scrolling through the list of payees.
The old app would dynamically load the list as you scrolled and the new one does also but much less smoothly.
Very smooth for me, no lag at all.
The only thing is the money manager crashes the app. But I don’t use that anyway.
It’s a really nice app in my opinion. It could use some improvements but I would say that about most apps really.
I loaded the pilot on my old iPhone and it was fast and responsive, felt about the same as in my Android phone.
I don’t know why it’s so bad for me then!
Possibly because I have quite a few accounts and this seems to cause lag on loading the Home Screen, which then makes everything else slow too.
