Same day delivery

Like on Uber Eats when it says the delivery driver is coming on a bicycle yet they’re flying down the motorway when you look at the tracker

You also see their clapped out car billowing smoke with their screeching fan belt as it idles away while they’re knocking on your door blocking all the other traffic.

This is just my crazy experience with local delivery people - not sure what it is like everywhere else. It makes me laugh though, even though I probably shouldn’t

Fair enough for that one specific example. NEXT DAY delivery then… = bad?

And also ‘local people so it’s nice’? They are still working for a global conglomerate that isn’t doing enough to lessen their impact on the world so… :man_shrugging:

I’m sure the conglomerates do far more for the environment than local enterprises because they’re in the public eye more.

@Ordog The Uber Eats thing is really annoying though so many times it says it’s a bike then they’re in a run down car - happened to me on countless occasions.

Most my uber eats say bicycle but always show up in a car.
I wonder if this is intentional or not?

Did a bit of research and it seems there are a couple of potential reasons why drivers register as using bicycles and not cars:

  1. To avoid the ‘hassle’ of having to submit extra paperwork
  2. Related to the above, makes it easier for people to ‘share’ an account
  3. Bikes get a restricted delivery radius, so saves them from having to accept jobs they’d otherwise deem too far to drive

I believe they get paid more or receive a higher commission due to environmentally friendly incentives too.

Curious to know more I googled it.

Also as @HoldenCarver mentioned the main one seems to be that they don’t need to provide proof of insurance, licence or that their car is roadworthy or new enough to meet Uber Eats requirements.
