RBS were one of the banks who wouldnt offer me an account and closed my basic account immediately after opening on the back of my CIFAS marker in 2019 and the following data from LBG on Synectics so escalated it and fired off all my evidence to show it was in error etc.
They’ve overturned the decision and are now happy to offer me an account - need to wait 24 hours to reapply but full apology and a generous £250 goodwill gesture for the ongoing issues.
So looks like I am not out of the woods yet lol
Did a new application as advised… only for it to decline immediately again so looks like they still haven’t updated their systems!
11 days in and so far so good!
Instant notifications work well, don’t mind the app layout in all honesty and round-ups work okay-ish( do prefer the way Monzo implement them mind you). DDs are a pain given you can’t see them until the first payment but that’ll be a short term pain!
Overall, glad to say I’ve settled down with my banking now and will continue with RBS going forward - especially with the fight to actually get it to start with
The Cater Allen card is miles better than the Drummonds card. I like the Child and Co. card the best but I do think it’s a bit silly actually using these faux private banks.
I do feel the Drummonds private bank card is a bit odd, when you’re not a private banking client. But if people like it as a bit of fun, then why not.
I actually prefer that Child & Co card doesn’t say Private Bank, on it, given I’m not a private client with them. I just like that it’s one of the oldest banking brands in the world, and like the look of the card + I think the RBS app and regular saver is a decent offer, so probably would have got a regular NatWest/RBS account anyway.
Carter Allen is a bit of an interesting one, as people aren’t really faux private banking clients. They have met all the private banking criteria (just happens to be there aren’t really any) and have been legitimately been given an account, there is no ‘old form’ skullduggery, people have applied like all their other clients. I’ve not bothered to get the account, given the poor app/internet banking experience, and from what I can tell there are no benefits (such as a high interest, regular saver).
Just transferred some cash to my Child & Co. account and received an immediate notification from the RBS app that it had been received. Not only was the push notification immediate (well, 3 or 4 seconds) but it also had an alert tone.
Last time I checked (probably a couple of years ago) the notifications were silent. When was the audible alert added? This is iOS, BTW.
I assume that this means the Nat West notifications also have sound now?
Some providers do not allow you to have two credit cards at all, let alone two with concurrent 0% on purchases for x months deals.
Had one 2022, a year later they allowed me a second , with a higher credit limit.
Closed 2022 version, once promotion ended, and now, as 2023 deal coming to an end, been granted a new 0% purchases AND balance transfers credit card, with nearly DOUBLE the limit!
Will only use for purchases side of the deal though, mind. I NEVER mix promotions on the same card.
And I prefer this one to my maxed out Chase as minimum payments are 1% of the balance, not 2.5%, so my matured fixed term saver fund, which is financing this latest card, can sit in my ISA, earning me a bit more interest, tax-free
Does anybody know what time of day direct debits are taken from your account? I was supposed to have one taken today but it hasn’t been yet. I suppose the requesting company might have delayed collection because of the holiday weekend.
