Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Chat

Yeah I opened the regular saver shortly after getting the current account and all the other accounts seem pretty poor, so I don’t actually need one, and probably won’t open another one unless something amazing happens to their rates.

I really just like the history, with it being such an old bank, even compared to other banks globally. Plus the card is nice. And importantly it’s free just like any other RBS account, I wouldn’t pay for the privilege!

Just seen the wiki had no idea the name was so old

Can anyone confirm, do you still receive the 1% cashback on supermarket spend and 0.25% on all other card transactions when using the reward credit card through Google pay on transactions over £30?

When I first got the card I’m sure I read that you had to use the physical card to receive rewards if the transaction was for more than £30?

NatWest here but presume it’s the same, I only ever use the card with Apple Pay and I get the 1%\0.25% respectively.

Can anyone confirm if you still earn cash back rewards when using the RBS reward credit card through Google pay on transactions over £30?

I’m sure I saw it written in the T&C’s when I got the card a couple years ago that you had to use the physical card for transactions over £30 to earn rewards but can find no mention of it online now. I’ve been trying to ask the advisor on Cora but they seem to have no idea what I’m asking and keep giving unrelated answers. I’d rather use Google pay but have been using the physical card due to this. I guess I could just try it and see if it works but it seems a shame to miss out on potential cash back.

Round ups have been given a glow up.

5X round ups now available for the digital regular saver, and as usual it doesn’t affect the monthly deposit limit. This is a great.

Hopefully they increase the high interest max balance on the Digital Regular Saver to go alongside. Feels unlikely though

Maybe with inflation the 99p stores and Poundland will have to up their prices to £1.01 and you can really smash the roundups!

One Below changed their name to One Beyond :grimacing:

One below sounds a bit dodgy anyway (could just be me) so feel that was a good move regardless!

It’s a while since Poundland stores charged a pound.

Quote from October 24 - ‘Across Poundland’s typical core range of around 5,000 items, from today around a third, will be £1 or less’

Edit: I didn’t put those commas, in.

They reserve for everyone and can still decline after the ID check, shit process tbh.

I did like the RBS app but felt like it was just getting too cluttered and stuff sometimes wasn’t really where I expected it. It’s why I do like Santander, First Direct, and HSBC. They may have fewer features, but the navigation is so much easier for me

Yeah I’ve moved all my spending to RBS to max the DRS

Once RBS show upcoming payments and show direct debits at the point they are added to your account and not the date the first payment is taken they’ll have the perfect all round offering.

Don’t see why not, as long as it’s a debit card transaction.

Is the plan to pay £0.01 a load of times to get £4.95 roundups?

Great ‘hack’ tried same with a £1.01 payment to Amex using my debit card and £4.95 was transferred to DRS! New level unlocked! :money_with_wings::money_with_wings::money_with_wings:
