Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Chat

yes, they sent the papers to me as well and I sign it Mail it back, but forgot to put my passport copy in it as well…

To be fair, this happened to me too before. I had to go to branch to give them my documents. Luckily the branch was only a few minutes walk from my house.

Thanks now you cant use other NatWest brands to get a switch.

they taking your docs? if yes I’m going to the branch today. and I need to give them the application ref. no as well or no (thanks a lot for answering)

Last year it was a case for Ulster that you filled in a form looking like it was from 2006 online.

You then got that form details printed and sent to you by post to physically sign and send back in the envelope provided.

There was a section on providing ID but that step could be completely ignored.

The idea of sending ID to be lost in Belfast postal system does not appeal so it’s lucky they don’t check. I might be wrong but it didn’t list NatWest/RBS branches as an option.

The account was then created a week later.

Drummonds account opened and got my welcome letter in App

Didn’t need to provide any additional ID but as RBS is my main bank already and I’ve got a few other products maybe it wasn’t needed

Now waiting (impatiently) for the debit card to arrive.

Yup same for me, I think the key is making sure you type the exact information as it appears on your current RBS accounts and you’ll not get asked for it.

Welcome to the Drummonds life!

Decided to open an RBS account again. Definitely the bank that was the best app when I was switching around. Will probably switch my Nationwide account over as I don’t believe I have got a switch offer from the group before (yes, I did switch even without the incentive of money, probably to get some card designs if I remember correctly).

Process went well, apart from a slight issue with my address but the chat agents were really helpful and found a solution quickly.

Now let’s just see if I end up with a Mastercard or Visa!

I will probably then stop the switches for a while. Pretty happy to keep Santander, First Direct, and Royal Bank for a while.

Applied just after 1pm yesterday and the app notification was just after 2pm today with my welcome letter

Your wife as driven about accounts as you are?

Fairly sure you’ve moved the JA a few times recently :joy: or are they just happy you’re happy moving it about?

My ex wouldn’t be thrilled at all :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I had to wait for the paper form and go with it to the branch. 2 days after account was opened. In total it took more than a week as their customer service was bad.

First I was struggling with uploading different documents which all were rejected. Then person from live chat told me to call some number so I did and another person said to email yourapplication@natwest.com with supporting documents and explanation (they didn’t respond at all btw).

I also tried without the form in branch and they said that they can’t help me without it.

I decided to call again and finally got my account number, though apparently can’t get registered within 3 days of creation as the mobile number needs to fully verify in the systems, so it won’t trigger the auth code right away.

In turn, this meant they’re posting me one for above reasons, but on day 3 (tomorrow) I can just re register and set myself up that way.

I just opened a Drummonds account after having a Child’s account for the last 6 years.

They still asked for ID, even though it was simply added to my current RBS customer ID.

I am in the same situation, And yes I called the number, got referred to exceptions team and emailed the same email you said. Did they just sent you the paper form automatically after a couple days? Did you go to natwest or RBS branch?

I think that it was sent automatically as well but one of advisors from the chat also offered to send it and asked me to go with it to the branch so in total received 2 exactly the same forms.

I’m in London and Natwest was my only option.

Thank you for sharing that!

Same but I am too scared of being asked ‘Why are you applying for a RBS account in Drummonds branch while you have a NatWest branch 10 min away?’

My unreasonable obsession for card design is not powerful enough to say ‘I just wanted a debit card with private banking written on it :point_right: :point_left:

Just go to Natwest and give them the form. All they will say is “ough, RBS…”

Been there, done that :joy:

Ok, I’m in.

Nice app, shame there’s no vibrate on the notifications (unless it’s just me on iOS?).

No card yet but that’ll likely update eventually.

So my card (with the shed) is finally now showing in the app after I called them this morning. I had the same issue with not having had a card ordered, despite the welcome letter saying I would be sent one. I’ve now tried to add it to Apple Wallet from the app but am getting this error. Has anyone else had this? Do you think it’s a case of waiting another day or so?
