Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Chat

Approx. 3.3 million apparently.

When I was with them, I had no issues either, although saying that, the only banks I’ve had genuine issues with have been Lloyds, Nationwide, and Starling. The RBS app also seems really good and not too cluttered (that’s one reason why I can’t stay with Monzo, everything feels a bit all over the place).

Apparently, RBS has one of the worst mobile banking experiences. Maybe RBS customers just aren’t aware of how much better their services are compared to many other banks?

Santander is definitely improving, and there is nothing that I’m particularly desperate for them to add to the app anymore but clearly, RBS has a better app with more features.

Nationwide is miles behind almost everyone else.

Agreed

First Direct also has a fairly limited app. It works well, but it really itsn’t anything to shout about to shout about.

Personally, as long as I can see the transactions and send money, that’s enough for me. Santander (my main bank) and FD (which I use for fee-free when abroad) work well for this. Santander has a few more features and is creating a more modern-looking app, but the basics still work well without being too cluttered.

I’ve tried Monzo twice now and I just can’t get used to it. So many features that I don’t care about being organised in a bit of a messy way. From what I remember RBS was a good app, although I do remember a few long menus filled with random features that I probably didn’t care about too much.

The RBS app is just as useful as Monzo’s. Least with RBS you also get access to desktop banking, which I kinda missed.lol

I definitely wouldn’t place them so far down the list. I mean First Direct being 3rd??? they don’t even have notifications!

I agree. Despite me having no issues with the FD app, objectively, it is clearly not anywhere near 3rd with it being quite basic.

RBS even offers bill splitting, a feature many people use Monzo for.

I think we have to take that list with a pinch of salt.

I got my share code problem sorted out. I just need to go natwest branch and show them my share code. They will update it on the system and apparently after that any subsequent application will go smoothly without any verification needed. (Just in case anyone else falll into this situation, this is a solution).

Me an another guy here were struggling opening the account because we are EU national and digidocs is programmed to ask BRP card if it detect EU national. Its apparently outdated and the new way of verifying your right to reside in the UK is though share code (an alphanumeric code). When calling them, they said the new system should be implemented after April which will not ask BRP for EU national, etc.

Sorry for annoying some other people that have nothing to do with this.

Hopefully you’ll soon be up and running!

Hi guys, is there any chance I would be able to message someone to find out how to get the Drummonds account please? I am an existing RBS account holder. Thank you,

Apply via the old form.

Decided to join Drummond’s Club :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

If you’ve got payees setup on the account you’re transferring in, they’ll come across. Because of that, I’ve not needed to set up any new ones even a year down the line.

Don’t laugh, but my eldest has been eating better since he found out that banks will pay you to change accounts

So, 30 mins very slow chat via Cora to get my account number, then told to call up to sort.

Got answered instantly, got through a little security without any details but they couldn’t send the sms to my phone to verify me due to my account being too new and in some “transitioning” period.

I can go to branch with ID to get account number or just wait for shizzle in the post which is my preferred way tbh :joy:

Yeah, I think mine just appeared. Way before the postal stuff if memory serves.
