Refunded, payment then taken again

I was refunded an order from Uber Eats for £11.98. They refunded me the same day. They then took the money again the next day. I contacted them and they are saying they didn’t take the money again. Monzo are saying they did take the money again but refunded me x2 (£23.96). This never happened. Am I going crazy? Is there something I’m not understanding? The £9.60 is irrelevant and clearly I haven’t learned my lesson by still using Uber Eats

Think you’re missing part of your last screenshot because that’s saying they refunded you £11.98 on the 21st then took it again on the 22nd. Where’s the double charge transactions below the £11.98 refund on the 21st? It should show the double transaction before if what they’re claiming is true (don’t know if you omitted it because there are other transactions or are you saying they’re not there at all?)

But yeah from your screenshot they refunded you then took £11.98 back, without seeing the prior two transactions or context it’s hard to know what’s happened.

Absolutely nothing there about the double refund, so I looked on my statement and it was there. Very confusing but at least I’ve solved my own mystery

An odd way for Uber to present the payment again before refunding it.

If it’s in your statement then that means it happened and for some reason Monzo have decided to hide it from the UI. I’d be interested to know why Monzo in this case have excluded the transactions from the UI when they happened, is it because they have been led to believe this story that it was a double refund and in working with the merchant to correct it so as not to confuse the user and simplify things they’ve just decided to remove/omit them from the UI but leave them in the statement? Very strange, I’ll give you that :thinking:

Obviously there are many ways to do it, Revolut try to link transactions and refunds where they can but that in itself can be hit and miss and sometimes doesn’t work at all. Would be interested to know if it’s because of the refunds and is that how Monzo handle refunded transactions now to just omit them from the UI but not statements.
