Would be nice when monzo makes a financial mistake to your account. To own it and then not penalise its customer by putting them overdrawn. Them moan there customer has an unarranged overdraft that they didnt cause.
Better compliance from monzo would of prevented this.
I dont feel the customer should have to continuously check up on there account for errors made by the bank itself.
Who was the refund from? If you were refunded an amount twice, spent the money and then that merchant recovered the duplicate refund, that’s a complaint to raise with them. There’s nothing Monzo can do about that and nothing they did wrong.
Was it a direct debit refund or card refund? If it was a direct debit you should be covered by the direct debit guarantee for any losses. If it was a card refund, then the merchant had instructed Monzo to credit your account twice and Monzo just followed those instructions, as they’d have no reason not to. You’d have had the same experience with any bank.
Well, that’s not exactly true.
You probably raised a dispute?
Got a temp refund from monzo.
The merchant refunds you during that time too.
Monzo lets you know they’re going to take back their refund in 14 days because the merchant refunded you.
Then your responsibility to make sure the funds are available as Monzo will take their money like they informed.
Monzo, or any bank, don’t do refunds generally, it’s taken back from the merchant in form of dispute, you’re just handed the money ahead of time while they investigate.
You saw the extra money come in and thought you would go spending at the bank’s expense, then got upset when you were caught with your trousers down, didn’t you?
