Problem with Payit

Obviously this is in hindsight now, but why wouldn’t you have just used your Monzo card if it was important and you had the funds?

Do Aquacard offer cashback?

because I had my purse stolen and the aqua card is the only card I have in my possession at the moment
I don’t know if aqua do cashback. I need to make a payment online

Isn’t your Monzo card frozen then?

Again, this is probably my lack of understanding of Payit but Monzo state…

It’s probably just pending. 2 hours isn’t a long time for most credit cards…

you can still make transfers to other accounts.

the longest i’ve ever had to wait is 2 minutes for money to reach aqua card, its now getting on for 3 hours

This is from Payit, like I said it can take up to 3 days but that’s not the norm.

Payit™ leverages the UK Faster Payment scheme for single immediate payments. As such payments are usually settled within seconds although the scheme allows for up to 2 hours.

In a small proportion of cases, the paying customer’s Bank may hold a payment internally prior to release (for fraud checks for example).

In this scenario Payit™ will return a pending status to you and continue to poll the Bank for updates for up to 3 days after which point the payment will be marked as failed.

not had a pending message, it just said thank you for your payment

I don’t think I’ll ever use Payit after reading all of this :grimacing:

Not sure why you would tbf, I’d just enter sort code and account number asking with reference number and pay it that way.

I’m not using it again!

Nah it’s fine, never had a problem.

It’s just subject to the same checks and delays as any faster payment

Is it not just an unnecessary middleman when it could go “direct” from account to account?

All for the sake of not having to enter the payee details, which I assume could be saved after the first transfer anyway.

I could also send them a cheque I presume

It’s the future, get with the times grandad :older_man:

If you send a Faster Payment to the credit card, it can take up to a day to register with them and be available to you again (depending on the card provider and their systems).

Presumably if you use a system from the credit card provider to pull the money in, they should register it much quicker so your balance becomes available to you.

That’s my assumption as to why you’d use the service, though in this case it seems this hasn’t been quicker (or quicker enough).

It’s still using the faster payment system though, so it’s bound by the rules / systems which that uses.

Well the payment still hasn’t been received and now monzo are blaming Aqua and Aqua are blaming monzo. All I know is that my £375 is missing and I can’t pay for the valuation on my house so my mortgage can go through and this needs to be carried out by 7th February

You’ve got plenty of time then. I wouldn’t be too concerned yet.

Someone shared the timescales from Payit and the worst case was 2-3 working days. Looks like you’ve fallen into this timeframe

Can’t you send them a bank transfer?

No because the money has already left my bank and I don’t have enough money to pay it again
