Phone number already in use (Android)

I’m trying to sign up to Monzo, but everytime I put in the verification code this message pops up:

“This number is already in use. Please check the number is correct, or chat to our support team”

I don’t ever remember signing up to Monzo.

Monzo must have your number attached to an account, or application, somehow.

How long have you had the number? It could be a recycled number and the previous holder had a Monzo account.

Have you ever before started the sign-up process but not finished it?

Whatever the case may be, the advice to contact them by email is the best thing to do.
