New account - phone number in use

I’m trying to set up a new Monzo account. I’ve never joined before. When I load the app and click thru on ‘create account’, input my phone number and immediately told my phone number is already in use. I’ve emailed Monzo twice but had no response. I’m starting Uni in 3 days and very keen to get it set up and sorted before I go.

I don’t mean this to sound condescending, but are you sure you’ve never made an account?

What happens if you try and log in?

It’s been a long while since I did the join-up flow, but does it say your email address has been used before? Or have you not got that far?

Hi. as @Revels said, check you do not have an account. Alternatively I have heard that during the sign up process if you don’t complete it, I’ve heard you can get stuck in a certain phase. You might need contact support.

When I go to log in on the app, I enter my email address, click the link that it sends through to my email, then it asks me what phone number I would like to use for my account. I then enter my phone number, it sends me a verification code, and then states ‘phone number already in use’. I have emailed monzo twice over the past 2 days and haven’t had a response. I don’t know what else to do.

How long have you had your phone number?
Is it possible it’s a recently recycled number (and by chance one that has been previously used with someone else’s Monzo account)?
