Honestly pay point is shocking! I had to go to 4 before I could deposit my money as none of them knew what to do even though they were listed as a pay point
Wanted to pay cash in, tried McColls (which is also our local post office), also tried the Co-Op which was listed on the Pay Point website. Co-Op staff said they weren’t a Pay Point and couldn’t do it. McColls kept trying the chip and pin way which I found out later apparently doesn’t work (according to Monzo help). Went back to McColls to ask them to swipe and they said no. So yeah that was a bad experience.
Honestly the most useless thing I’ve ever come across, glad I reopened a Halifax account to make normal deposits.
I have found that not all pay-point locations offer this service and i have used the pay-point locator to find the locations closed to me.
I am sure on the pay-point locator website it says “cash deposit” if its accepted.
I also find if you use “i would like to top up this card” it makes more sense to the operator.
If they are unsure of the process, i just say to them they need to swipe the card and input the amount i have given them and then a receipt will be printed to confirm the transaction.
I have been a few times now and have had no further issues after the initial transaction at that location.
Hope this may help some people with this issue. It worked better for me after my first attempts wear not a great experience.
All 28,000 PayPoint locations can and should accept Monzo deposits.
Whether they choose to or not is another matter, however it is going against their terms if they don’t!
Yes, if they are willing to serve you in the first place. Every shopkeeper has the right not to serve someone, so that circumvents the rules from PayPoint.
