Nostalgia Corner

Playing Subbuteo with my mates. Waiting for the new issue of Roy of the Rovers to plop through my letterbox. Mucking around with my mates on the way to school. Sitting listening to my Spectrum loading a game from tape for 30 minutes…having my Dad about.

Ahhhh the past x

Oh my, they weren’t joking when they spoke about how outdated and fragmented the NHS systems are

Always looked for the 1/2p 1p and 2p’s on the way from school to get those fruit salads and blackjacks…£1 just blew away no £1 coins then lol

I am not quite sure why or when writing a letter or filling a form in application or otherwise in longhand was never a chore but filling online forms is such a pain.

Mars bars and Cream Eggs were huge
Records/Vinyl waiting for the new album to come out then getting on the bus to town to buy it in WHSmiths being desperate to get home to listen to it.

I suppose I had rose tinted goggles on but the 70’s and 80’s were a great time to grow up and start work in…so many fab Nurses parties in the early80’s when they actually had Nurses homes and Dr Qtrs in the good old NHS. Things just happen so fast these days, no planning required.

hahaha

Anyone remember the first post in this thread? Good times.

One thing I would say about nostalgia, in general, is that it’s usually better left in your memory. If you manage to find the old programmes you used to watch, the old movies, games or anything else, they’re never quite as good as you remember.

Apart from Ghostbusters and Back to the Future. They’re still awesome.

Going to Blockbuster or local video store and renting something :eyes:

The whole process of having to hunt through all the titles then when you find one that isn’t out of stock you could then watch the upcoming trailers as well.

I love Netflix etc but swamped with too many choices sometimes.

Sadly I’m old enough to remember it as Ritz…

There’s a lot to be said for the hunt though. Perhaps that is why vinyl has come back in the way that it has. Here in Cardiff there’s a couple of long-lasting bastions of the old way. Spillers Records and Kelly’s Records have been around forever, still as popular as ever, with large collections of new and used vinyl.

My youngest when they were 4, didn’t recognise what a DVD was because we stream everything. Made my 14 year old fell very old :joy: :joy:
