Long time no see

It’s been a good while since been on, who’s still here from the old days!?

I’m still campaigning for the new gambling regulations and its looking hopeful we might be getting some big news soon.

Hopefully full football kit logo ban at the very very least.

Hope everyone is keeping well!

Until I worked here I had no idea really about the impact that gambling had on people’s lives and now I know all the advertising especially around sports and the gamification of it all really makes me angry!

Keep on fighting the good fight :hot_coral_heart:

There’s a shift towards banning all gambling advertising, but it’s going very slowly… Real progress would be very welcome! I wonder if players could refuse to wear kit or deface it somehow if it is advertising gambling

Nope they can’t as that would get them in trouble with their employer. If the whole team refuses to wear a club kit then that might make the club listen.

Yeah, I was thinking collective action.

Kits are pretty likely to be coming to an end.

TV, radio other are hopeful but not as likely!

We will see all the details in the white paper which should be coming very soon.

Personally, our gamble is a £20-per-month D/D with the National Lottery. Nothing else. So absolutely controlled, despite being involved in that specific ‘gambling environment’.

I understand people have different control over their gamble.

But when we watch footie as a family, the names/logos on the shirts are burnt into our consciousness. I can deal with that personally, as can Mrs W too. But can we speak for the kids and how it affects them? Nope. Only continued education and/or continued lack-of-exposure does the job.

Kidz: Who is ‘Dafabet’? Who is ‘Spreadex’? Who is ‘Astropay’? - what do they do?
Us: 'Spend insane amounts of money to be shown on 11 football shirts - to promote their name so that you may connect with what they offer when you are older. But what they offer isn’t of any value. It’s crap. So don’t bother.
