New iOS Update: Upload Profile Pictures!

Yes. Every day without fail

Yes, Android has Automatic download option, but was not aware iOS did (so manually downloaded to my Apple each time)

Not sure if I am not doing something but I can’t see the graph on the app :frowning:

think you have to have a months worth of transaction data before you get the graph

If you’re a new user you’ll need a full calendar month’s use before you can see the graph.

Oh, probably didn’t use it long enough. Thank you

Regarding your idea - I remember when Golden Tickets were distributed, they were distributed to all users, regardless of OS. Just Android users couldn’t see them at all for some time, as app couldn’t ā€˜produce’ the outcome in the feed.

Users who use both ios and android devices (because auth is separate for both, easily doable) could get quite confusing feed items or irrelevant items. Since accounts are not locked to os, distributing relevant message would require ā€˜last used device’ being stored on Monzo’s side, and even that wouldn’t guarantee relevant feed items.

Probably when Android app catches up with functionalities to ios, then updates could be released on the same day and mass message via Intercom could be distributed? Ideal situation and feed items would work nicely!

@nathanvoller or the most part, we try to reserve feed items for essential information and data only to keep things simple and uncluttered. There may be another good way to fire out a blanket notification of an update, possibly as @Avishai mentioned, a message via Intercom.

@Avishai I haven’t forgotten about the list btw! Will get round to that as soon as I can.

+@nathanvoller For the notification - maybe a banner at the top of the screen Ć  la the grey ā€œPoor connectionā€ one? Or the red/yellow one which appears during an outage.

Unpopular opinion but I really despise the new look, it just takes up too much space, the older pulse graph was much better.

I’d love it if the app would display system-level contact photos first — i.e. those set in iOS Contacts — and fall back to the in-app profile picture where required (rather than overriding in every case). (+@sam @anon173672 @hugo)

I am not so happy with the design of the updated pulse…

The previous one was elegant the way it faded over the current balance as you scrolled back through your transactions.

The new design takes much more screen space as the balance is always shown and an uninspired grey box is dumped over the current balance which jumps from left to right with changes in values displayed and day of the month.

It also included spent today which I don’t feel is necessary because you can see the transaction feed how much you spent that day.

What are other people’s thoughts?

Complete opposite feeling from me. I like that the pulse graph is always visible. It irritated me that you had to scroll down to even see it, I didn’t even realise how to display it until I contacted support.

I find spent today useful. I like to keep an eye on how much I’ve spent per day if I’m working to a budget. Sure I could go through adding it up in my head but its slower than having the figure there.

Edit: Will also add I like the predictive line the pulse graph shows. That will be super handy when we have the current accounts. I can see at a glance if I’m going to be ok during the month.

I agree with @hailstorm, I prefer the new pulse graph. I like it always being there, and I like how I can now automatically see the balance and amount spent for whichever day is showing in the transaction feed.

I’m with mj84 on this, the new pulse is far too intrusive

I’m with jzw95, hailstorm and others on this, I prefer the new pulse graph.

The new size of the pulse graph is great, but the fact the current balance of the account is obscured by the graph ā€˜pointer’ needs a rethink. Currently, if I move the transaction list even slightly (as it’s early in the month), I can’t see the current card balance in the top left.

Perhaps a minor nitpick, but certainly a UX annoyance.

Agreed. As well as the situation @colin outlines, I was looking at my feed today and forgot I’d scrolled down a bit. When I glanced up at my balance, I was surprised that it was more than I was expecting. After a moment, I realised I was looking at the overlay for the balance a few days ago. I scrolled down and got my actual balance. But there’s great potential for confusion, especially when working through past expenses where your mind is occupied with other things, and at a glance you expect the balance to be where it’s always been. It is also a hassle to have to scroll up (and lose your place in the feed) to see what the actual account balance is.

I know lots of people probably don’t care about things like this… but I do, so I’m just sharing my person feelings on the matter. If its not to your taste, fair enough.

My complaint: Scrolling down through my history used to show/hide the (extremely useful and very welcome) balance estimation timeline, but since the last update the timeline is always visible, taking up a huge amount of real estate, making the screen very ugly for no good reason (as far as I can tell).

Why can’t the balance/spent information in the new (also ugly) ā€œsign postsā€ be placed in the grey bars that contain the date? This would be much more unobtrusive.

This is the first change I’ve seen Monzo make that genuinely felt like a step backwards. I’ve been waiting for an update to revert it, but as it doesn’t seem to be coming, I thought I’d register my feelings on the issue.

Here’s why Hugo decided not to do that -

I don’t intend to sound dismissive here but my advice would be to wait a while before deciding whether the change is good or bad.

You’ve probably seen the outcry’s that’re inevitably caused whenever your favorite social media site redesigns their layouts. People are instinctively wary of change, it’s strange & the natural reaction to strange is that it’s bad.

If the new design is actually causing you an issue in terms of preventing your from doing something, then fair enough but if not, give it some time & if it’s still bothering you in a month or two (that’s usually the point when users have forgotten the change even happened), then you’ll know there’s a problem.
