N26 Discussion

I’ve got 4 setup, but I wouldnt recommend using them for important things that you may wish or need to cancel in advance.

The way of accessing Direct Debits is a bit complicated for what it should be. You basically have to wait until one has been taken. You can go into the transaction and then “view mandate details” which then opens up another screen with a link to “view all direct debits”

I dont why they cant just give you an option in the menu to view them instead of going through 3 or 4 steps.

You need a bloody flowchart to work this app properly!

Interesting.

Still can’t save payees, though :rage:

Here in Portugal in both Lidl and Aldi a lot of times they register stuff faster that you’re able to bag it, which I think is kinda rude and most people here would probably agree. You only pay after you’ve bagged everything as that’s the moment when youre supposed to notice if something’s wrong, like a leaky bottle or whatever it might be, so it’s not as if they can move on to the next in line. It just feels like they’re pressuring people to bag faster

Seriously, don’t German companies give some training to employees?

They’re trained to act exactly like that. You’re getting the exact service they plan.

Do N26 have any kind of public roadmap? The app doesn’t seem to have changed much since launch, it would be good to know what’s coming up.

Doesn’t make much sense then. Aldi and Lidl sell more expensive products and in exchange you get worse costumer care? Seems they just dont care and N26 is the same thing. As if they’re entitled to their costumers

The idea is that it’s a no frills service. All of their money is spent on making great products and great prices. None wasted on needless customer care.

Here in Portugal the prices are higher than anywhere else, especially Aldi, and the food has a reputation for lower quality, which I personally can attest to :slightly_smiling_face:. People just go there for the random assortments of electronics, clothing and tools that they sell, not for the food

Over here in the UK you’re not supposed to bag it at the till. You’re meant to move away to let others through and bag/box it after payment.

My N26 account has been sitting dormant since day 1. Is there any reason to choose N26?

They seemed to have a pretty rocky start and it doesn’t sound like they’ve made much progress.

At the minute id say No. Im still testing mine out. Ive found it good to use as an online purchasing tool.

I was a previous victim of Ticketmaster fraud and since then Ive learnt to keep my money separate so with my N26 it keeps a minimal balance and I just top it up as and when I plan to buy stuff online. I still have confidence in it maturing as a product, but until it does I wouldnt recommend anyone rush out to get one… but if you already have one theres no harm in using it, even if its just to pay for petrol or takeaway, etc

So my experience with N26 hasn’t been great and I opened my account a week ago. These are the bug bears so far

  • account sign up was long
  • card delivery speed was poor
  • navigation within the app isn’t great
  • pushing paid accounts on the front page of the app, I don’t mind the occasional notification but I can’t stand ads when I’m checking my balance
  • card activation is horrendous! Enter a number from the card and make a cash withdrawal from your app based bank to activate the card

I must say I like the basic card they provide but other than that nothing to great to say so far. It very much seems like they have created a basic app based bank and gone, right let’s release this everywhere!

Yeah, it sucks when there’s a whole section in the app pushing you to pay, but saved payee management doesn’t exist.

A bank that’s worse than Monzo at payee management!

I’d actually quite like to use N26 if this glaring error were to be fixed.

The notifications are a bit formal and ‘wordy’, and are timestamped in CET not GMT so appear to be an hour later than the time actually is, but that’s minor.

Closed my account there, though I didn’t experience problems with sign up or card delivery. However not being able to save payees was a deal breaker for me.

Honestly that’s one that I think it’s inexcusable. I’ve never seen any other app struggle with this and it can be quite confusing when the phone presents the notification in GMT, the notification text mentions times in CET, N26 chat and email interactions are CET despite them never mentioning any timezones and talking to the user as if the user is the one responsible to know and keep track of all that, the web interface is GMT and the app I don’t even know what timezone it’s using

When I complain about it, they always assure me 100% that everything I see is always in GMT, despite me pointing out to them that that’s not the case, even when presented with a screenshot from my phone with a notification marked by the phone as 8:21 and with the notification text mentioning 9:21

GMT not BST? Wouldn’t that account for the hour?

Well only for six months of the year. The notifications are out 12 months.

Ah, I get you :slightly_smiling_face:
