Moving to EU country, what bank do you recommend?

I’m moving to Portugal and looking for a great online bank like Monzo. Which one do you think is best? A key equivalent feature I’m looking for is Monzo’s Shared Tabs. Might be useful if they also operate in UK?

Revolut?

I have a Revolut account with a UK address but I wasn’t happy with their service in comparison to Monzo for various reasons. Does Revolut have an equivalent to Shared Tabs?

Portugal? Paging @megamaster

The European digital/neo banks that are usually mentioned are N26 and Bunq. There are probably others!

I quite like the look of bunq ^^ I opened an account with them a while ago to have a look around (obviously wasn’t viable living in the UK but it looked cool).

I use N26 in Germany and Monzo in the UK, they are both quite similar. N26 has tabs and shared tabs and also you can set rules with them to. I believe they also work in Portugal to, I know they support the language. I have found them to be ok.

They keep messing around with their subscription tiers, annoying pretty much everyone at some point. All legacy Free accounts just got “upgraded” to Premium…

Considering they are charging EUR 7.99 a month for the Premium (aka standard) account, some of the allowances are a surprisingly stingy, including card replacement fees.

If you’re seriously looking at bunq, check out the bunq pack, which gives you four Premium or three Premium and one Business account for EUR 20 per month. People are looking to join a pack all the time on their forum too.

The latest big update is still in beta, but purportedly includes the bunq Instagram and fb feeds, which has already upset quite a few people. Will be interesting to see what they’ve done

Ouch, sounds like my recommendation is based on an old experience. :grimacing:

In portugal you have Moey, have a look at it

Bunq is awesome.

Nice one, hadn’t spotted that one. Strange that their website is in English. Looks like they have a ‘Shared Tabs’ equivalent too:

Why is that?

Oh right, thanks. I couldn’t find the shared tabs feature on their website.

I found Shared Spaces, but it looks more like a Shared Pot feature than a Shared Tab (plus it’s a premium-only feature). Is there something else I’m not seeing?

It similar to monzo, and it is a full portuguese account, you can pay to the goverment and those type of things that you can’t on revolut. It also lets you to use MBWAY which they use a lot in Portugal.

Okay. I think we might have found a winner. Thanks again.

The Moey app design looks pretty good but their backend is a bit broken it seems. Took me three times to get past the codepass creation point yesterday, crashing each time. And today I can’t get past login at all and neither can my girlfriend create an account. Just won’t load.

They may have some issues at the moment, I created the account at the begging of May and everthing was fine (iOS). maybe wait for a few days and give it another try
