Everyone can change.
They just won’t.

Yeah I did wonder that too.
I wouldn’t mind paying upfront (eg the week difference) to get payments back on track.
Most interested in earning interest would be nice if my account balance could earn enough to pay for Plus too, the ISA does it for me currently but would be good to earn interest on the rest too.
Also like the rewards, and metal card ideas.
Hopefully that is something they will do soon
Is it going to be possible to pay for the whole year in one go? I hate having to pay monthly for stuff.
That’d be nice. Or a £6/month or £60 for the year type of deal
The only issue I have with these kind of deals is it’s essentially a tax on the poor, or a better deal for the cash rich - however which way you want to look at it.
True. I do think, though, that a pay up front option at the same price as monthly payment (so £72) would be a nice, albeit niche, feature to have.
You don’t have to be cash rich to take advantage of annual payment deals.
I pay my car insurance (and a few other things) on my credit card and pay monthly. This way you get a better deal AND you don’t have to pay interest too
I do understand your point though, but thought I’d give you a different perspective.
If you pay for a year’s insurance and pay monthly, surely you’re paying interest?
If you clear the credit card each month then you have paid the annual cost in one month anyway.
Unless I’m misreading you.
I suspect they are using a card which has an introductory offer of x months at 0%
It’s quite common on most spending cards.
I wouldn’t even mind if there wasn’t a discount for paying a year up front - I always try to pay outright if I can.
I overpay my phone bill so I don’t a direct debit each month, if I decide to switch then it gets refunded.
I thought that but it’s not quite the answer to those being cash poor losing some of those benefits.
Having easy access to 0% credit cards is still sadly something those who usually have the money in the first place are more likely to get.
Though the cost of Monzo Plus is not likely to cause too much of an issue for many.
At £36/£72 a year, it’s such dismal value for money that anyone worried about this shouldn’t be buying Monzo Plus at all.
One option could be that Monzo will offer to foot the bill if you walk into a store to buy one while their insurer takes a day to reimburse. Not sure how practical this is to ensure Monzo don’t approve a replacement that the insurer then denies, but it might be possible.

I don’t think they’d like this. Apple provides insurers with specific ‘replacement devices’ now so the insurers aren’t paying out as much for a new retail device.
An update on how long they intend to run the early bird price would be good @jonas
Is it possible to change the card colour once I’ve already chosen?
It is indeed
