Yes, what’s the difference between the AXA and the previous Pluto cover that makes this one better (as it was referred to as elsewhere in this thread)? Thanks.

It offers as much value as a generic “Monzo Plus” card?

The whole point of Monzo Plus is to give extras at a premium to those willing to cough up for them

Theres been more than enough people requesting it so monzo would be silly not to take advantage

The features in Monzo Plus are exclusive to those that pay for the priviledge

Coming soon… Monzo Plus - Exclusive Edition

Just wanted to understand the reasoning behind people supporting the idea.

I have a modest amount of money invested in Monzo so unfortunately I have already bought in to it to an extent. Oh well, enjoy your metal cards on me

Haha. The hot coral plastic card is exclusive to those who decide not to pay extra to have a metal card.

I’m curious to know how you’re going to be impacted financially by Monzo offering metal cards?

You may have to take a slight leap of faith to make the connection that the small amount of money I invested in Monzo could have been directly allocated to the design and production of your, yet to be designed or produced Metal Monzo + card.

I think you made that leap yourself?

Having to explain the joke has really spoilt it in many ways. Perhaps that’s testament to the low quality of the joke in the first place. There you go, something hopefully we can all agree on.

I mean. A metal card could have a better financial impact for monzo (I’m in no way a person who has any insight in these things. Just a view).

I suppose in theory it could mean a longer lifespan of a card, no worries of breaking easier, the card can actually live up to its chip lifespan etc.
But also in theory it could have a better environmental impact as it’s using less plastic (that’s if the card is made from metal completely and not sandwiched with plastic like other banks, causing them to deteriorate faster). The card manufacturers could use recycled materials in the future etc.

In terms of the consumer (us) if you’re paying for an extra service that typically is all non tangible, having a more premium card that lasts longer, better for the environment and is more visibly appealing is always a nicer touch. ignoring the “nice looks” and feels. (Again in theory) Wouldn’t you want something that’s more durable, better for the environment and a more tangible physical difference for the only physical product in a service which is mainly virtual ?

But hey, if someone doesn’t want it, pretty sure the option to not have a new card but keep the monzo plus service is still an option :man_shrugging:t2:

I highly doubt metal cards are better for the environment than plastic ones, especially considering that
they would be replacing a perfectly good plastic one in many cases.

:joy:

I’ll have a decide a colour when I get taken of the waiting list to join.

The only downside of a metal card is how do you shred the thing

fun fact - currently the most expensive metal card on the market is Sberbank Visa Infinite Gold Card - Its pure gold, has mother of pearl and 26 diamonds and you have to cough up $100k just to get the card!

But, I am all for a one off ‘lifetime’ metal card if it means I never ever have to replace it when it expires ever again. Of course its not necessarily the safest thing in the world to have the one card and one card number, especially as hacked and compromised account information can float around on the black market for years. But the use of virtual cards I can’t see this not being an issue any more.

I’m wondering in years to come if your be asked if you want to keep your current colour or switch near the end of the cards lifespan?

I’m assuming if you report your Plus card lost, sullen I damaged a new one of the same colour will be its replacement?

I’d put it through works trash compactor or carefully prise out the chip and destroy it with scissors.

You get to pick a new colour if you order a replacement card

I’ve just signed up.

I can’t help but think I’m paying £3 a month at the minute just for a different card colour. But, being Monzo, it can only get better.

Fingers crossed!
