Monzo now lets you get paid a day early, for free

Mine has just come through in the last couple of minutes and I now get a ‘Get this payment early’ link that gives you info about getting paid early at 4pm.

Mine due tomorrow has just shown up.

So people that see the benefit in getting paid early can do that… fine. I don’t really see why I’m now getting late notice of transactions - it’s the same for direct debits that used to say “in 3 day” now don’t tell me until the previous day :man_shrugging:

They normally show up at about 9am the working day before. As Monday is a Bank Holiday that means about now for me.

Mine have always shown up 2/3 days before :man_shrugging:

And the 3 days thing was over the weekend for direct debits too

You only get a day unless there’s a weekend in the way. It’s always been the irking day before because that’s when the bank knows.

I also used to get it up to 3 days before

But yes that may have been the weekend thing

Anything due on Tuesday should show up tomorrow so the Bank Holiday gives four days notice! I’ll still take being paid tomorrow in preference though :grinning:

It wasn’t a weekend as I always get paid on Friday. I get my payslip emails on the Wednesday and then by Wednesday evening I get to see the value in the Monzo app.

Given the way the BACS process works, Monzo wouldn’t have had the data then but OK. I wonder how that worked then???

Out of interest, if you have switched to Monzo via CASS, and your salary still goes to your old, closed account, will it show up as a BACS payment in the same way that it would if you were paid directly into Monzo?

It did for me with bacs credits. Unless they were just really quick updating their records

For what it’s worth, it does appear to be enabled for business accounts (at least the button is there on the incoming BACS payment, it’s not 4pm yet so I’ve not actually tried).

The wording around the feature does seem to assume it’s a personal account / salary payment so perhaps that could be looked at in a future iteration.

My salary gets paid by BACS and I am wondering how that will work this month? I get paid on the 27th each month, but with this feature, I should get paid on the 26th which is a bank holiday.

Based on the below wording:

“We’ll just send you a notification the day before you’re due to be paid (or on Friday if you’re paid on a Monday!)”

Would that mean that I would get paid this Friday (23rd)?

Sounds right to me.

So I’ve just had the notifcation. I’m so excited and ready to get hold of Future Me’s money.

But the animation slider is broken :frowning:

Not sure if it’s a known bug, but the note just won’t budge from it’s spot above the wallet. It taunts me by vibrating when I touch it, but alas he will not go into my wallet.

Seems like everyone has gone in to do this at the same time as the process didn’t feel very smooth. The screens took ages to load. I guess this will be ironed out over time. (Still pleased to get my money early though!)

Pull the notification tray at the same time. This is an iOS13 issue.
