Monzo now lets you get paid a day early, for free

I just got the notification as well, but noticed the clause about taking the money back if you weren’t paid. Can anyone explain the process if you were to spend most of the money and would be put into debt what would happen.
(Just a hypothetical and sorry if its been mentioned before)

Holy cow that was rough AF. I got paid early for two BACS payments - the first one was fine, the second took AGES and crashed the app. When I reopened, I was stuck on ‘Updating…’. When it eventually updated I did a FP transfer which took over a minute of the loading thing.

Not slick AT ALL :grimacing:

My app is also stuck at updating, has demand for this crashed the app? :see_no_evil:

Simply, Monzo know they will get your payment into their account on a future date. So they are loaning you the money now, on trust.
If they don’t in fact get the money from whoever is supposed to be paying you via BACS (highly unlikely) then they have the right to ‘take’ the money back. Which may put you in a difficult position depending on the circumstances.

If this did happen, neither Monzo or yourself are at fault though - the party responsible for committing the BACS payment are dangerously responsible.

Activate & use wisely; “With great power comes great responsibility”

Perhaps it was too much money for it to handle

Just done my second pay early. Another non-salary payment, this time from Google - it’s great

Is this accurate? The money can only be claimed back in the period between Monzo being aware of its pending arrival, and it actually being credited. The “loan” that you describe does not involve whomever arranged the BACS payment; that’s an arrangement between Monzo and the recipient. For the sender, the normal BACS rules about recalling payments apply.

I just think it opens up an interesting situation because could a company disagree that they don’t need to pay you early.

Thanks this worked! Off to the pub now then!

This won’t work for me. When I get to the drag money screen the money doesn’t drag.

I’m on iOS XS Max

If you’re on iOS 13 did the solution above not work?

Mine went through with no problems, thanks Monzo!

It was only a simple example. But if a party commits to pay someone via BACS and then somehow does not, they’ve broken a very serious commitment.

The company know nothing about the pay early bit.

The recall only comes into play if the actual BACS credit fails the following day.

The money doesn’t drag at all, it stays at the top, so I can’t try and lock my phone when it’s at the bottom unfortunately. :frowning:

I’ve just realised there is another iOS 13 update so I’m updating and will try again once done.

Seems like it doesn’t work on business accounts yet. I can see an incoming BACS payment greyed out (it’s been there all day) but no notification or ability to drag?

Drag notification centre at the same time

Oh it worked, even though the money wasn’t dragging  Thanks yall

Anyone else having issues if you press, drag and then press the lockbutton on the iphone then that’ll work.

Mine now works

Did for me and our business account. Worked without issue just now.

However the wording of the associated screen was assuming it was a personal account, so if this is to be a permanent feature of the business account then that will need to be fixed.
