And I’m not sure I agree with your assessment. The changes in legislation this year alone in terms of the Strong Customer Authentication 2- factor authentication requirement when the customer logs onto web - or makes a payment - would mean additional development, and web isn’t something you develop once and just leave. It would have to be maintained and updated, and this would come at a cost - not just financial but also the amount of regression testing involved. And for what benefit?
Even the incumbent banks now see more than three quarters of all logins coming from their app. And that will continue to increase. Why develop for a platform that’s increasingly obsolete for everyday banking?
Personally, the “app only” aspect of Monzo is the only thing stopping me from feeling 100% secure in going “full Monzo”, rather than just using it as a separate account to watch my spending (I currently use a mainstream bank account for all of my large/important finances such as direct debits and income also).
I am aware of web.monzo.com, but I think it lacks a core feature; the ability to transfer money. I think that would help a lot. I think a Windows 10 App (Microsoft Store) would also be beneficial to look into.
id love it if we could get a more feature-full web interface, obviously, I understand that Monzo is all about being an app-based bank but there are times when a web interface could be so much easier to use than trying to do things on a small screen.
I really love the Monzo app. It has been incredibly helpful for me as someone with ADHD and dyslexia. The app’s visual and colourful way of managing my accounts, money, and spending has made a significant difference! I’m very glad I switched to Monzo.
However, I am considering purchasing a ‘dumb phone’ because I’ve grown increasingly tired of excessive screen time and doomscrolling on my smartphone. Unfortunately, Monzo does not have a fully functional website, which is a downside.
As someone in my mid-20s, I believe there is a growing trend among many people, including younger individuals, who want to reduce their screen time and find alternatives. It would be very beneficial for Monzo to offer its beautifully designed and functional features on a website or through an app that can be installed on Windows or PC.
How would it be reducing your screen time if you’re on another screen? Sorry but I’m probably playing devil’s advocate here but that’s an counterintuitive argument if I ever heard one.
This is definitely a thing, but in a smartphone-based world, you can achieve this without ditching the smartphone. Delete the apps that provide little value to you and set limits on the ones you’d still like to use.
I personally have removed Instagram from my phone’s Home Screen. If I want to use it, I have to search for it, and even then I have a 10 minute daily limit. That’s enough to see what my friends are doing without ending up in a pit of worthless content. Don’t forget to turn those notifications off too!
Maybe they have a phone addiction and want to deal with it by getting rid of their smartphone, but the one thing preventing them from doing that is needing access to Monzo? To be honest it is a little ridiculous Monzo don’t have a website in 2025… I get that it saves on costs and puts their focus on providing one of the best banking apps out there, but there are huge downsides to completely ignoring online banking.
