I have been using Monzo.me for a few years. Regularly a group of people pay me small amounts of eggs. Now for most of them, card is declined. Any idea what is happening? Monzo support told me that monzo.me was not working but some payments come through. But not all. It’s frustrating
Monzo said it’s broken. Wait until it’s fixed, by Monzo.
If these people are paying you regually. A standing order or just a regular bank transfer, where they can save your details, will make their lives and yours much easier.
Yes although the amount varies. One or two have set up a regular payment and the rest either pay cash (fine with me as I pay cash for the eggs - it’s an old school family farm) or I have given them the bank details. Just that monzo me was so easy and immediate. But thanks for your suggestion
If it was broken broken then lots of people would be complaining.
You might have been restricted for using it for business purposes.
Maybe though they didn’t say that when I contacted support. It is a small thing though with about 6 to 10 people paying once a week. I get the eggs delivered to me since the village shop shut and people collect them from my shed. 17doz usually. Not really a mega business.
Buying 17 dozen eggs to sell is definitely a business. Nearly 40 transactions a month.
You might get away with it and it might work from time to time, but if you want it to always work you’ll need a better solution. And this is before Monzo tell you to stop using your personal account for it.
Your easiest option is probably to go cash only.
Yes well I guess I will see what happens. Quite a few already pay cash. It is really more of a service than a business but I get your point
Are you going over your monthly monzo.me limit?
I don’t know, I am not aware of having one. I just paid myself a pound using the non-app (ie from my laptop) monzzo.me to pay. That worked
To see the limit:
- From Home, tap on the Monzo Personal account card. to show the card and its transactions
- On the card image, tap on the 3 dots on the right
- Tap on ‘Manage account’
- Scroll down to the ‘Limits & Controls’ section and tap on ‘Limits and allowances’
- In the ‘Inbound’ section, check the ‘Monthly Monzo.me limit’ - it shows the limit and how much there is left to receive during the current month cycle.

17 dozen eggs a week wouldn’t touch the sides of a £1000 limit. Surely they can’t be hitting the limit with that?

You still couldn’t hit an individual limit with that amount of eggs. 6 - 10 people a week.
All the maths here goes out the window because I suppose OP could be using Monzo.me for something other than just eggs
No definitely not. £1 this month and that was the £1 I paid in myself.
