Monzo Flex Paid in Full on same day but then given money back but no longer paid in full

Hi all,

Recently booked flights using my Flex card. All has been fine, paid in full just after and then a few days later (today) I noticed 2/3rds of the payment has been given back to my current account and that value is now still owed on my flex :frowning:

When I look at the history it says paid in full and then the airline requesting multiple smaller amounts underneath to the value of the 2/3rds that has now been returned.

My guess is because the airline has tweaked things it now wants me to re-pay that once im happy? Is that right?

Unfortunately we can’t see what the transaction in Flex says or does.

But you should be able to use the 2/3rds of the payment in your current account to pay off the flex transaction?

You’ll initially pay the sum on screen.

Some merchants, including airlines, will reconcile the costs individually, making Flex act “odd” from the consumer side.

So any refunds you’ve had already, just pay down the original flex balance so the others align.

Monzo really should’ve just shown one figure and remove all the additional presentments from customer view as it causes more hassle than it’s worth.

Thanks both for the replies, its what you said @Carlo1460 , having heard back from support this morning they explained it in a similar fashion. Although you know you havent overpaid overall it’s definitely not 100% clear what happened when all is settled.
