I’ve voted. I have all 3 accounts personal, business and joint. I’ve got business plus and would really like the plus account for joint, I rarely if ever use the personal one.
So hoping it comes sometime soon!

I’d love to have custom categories for the joint account… (I don’t like the default ones…)
Hi Sebastian & welcome
I too would like custom categories as per Plus/Premium on Personal accounts - especially for the ability to split a transaction across multiple categories and manually assign the split amounts. Then Summary and budgeting would make more sense.
Hi,
We have recently switched to Monzo, we were really drawn to the budgeting functions and the ability to allocate spending into custom categories. However once we had set up our individual and then joint account tried to upgrade only to find out it is not an option on the joint.
We have however been really impressed with everything else about the app and will continue to stay in the hope the joint account features follow (at the very least the custom categories).
I don’t recall getting asked why I cancelled the plus though after cancelling 10 mins after setting it up?
Some of the features from Plus are handy across accounts such as custom categories but I don’t intend on using the personal account so not sure the Plus is worth paying for. Roundup is a nice touch but if it doesn’t work on JA then I can live without custom categories… actually using Curve so I don’t really care what colour / material the card is either.
To be clear, I’d consider Premium for a joint account and would definitely pay Plus for a JA.
Be careful in promising like this until you know what the costs would be!
tbh, We’d go into Premium for JA as fast as available but JA’s seem to be in the fallen kingdom.
I’ve just restructured our accounts for maximum return (for us) by shifting all ‘savings’ to my personal (Premium) account. We ultimately gain more, Monzo pays us more. Bonkers.
The Joint Account is DoDo at this stage. Sad.
I don’t think I’m legally obliged to do anything I say I’m gonna do on the internet
Have any body explored other alternatives ? anybody knows if for example Starling joint account lets you customize the categories ?
Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at things, Monzo does more things well than badly and researching alternatives rarely results in finding a service which at least equals the Monzo Joint Account. For us anyway. The issue is that Monzo have spoilt customers with a fully-featured Personal Account (cheque-imaging aside) and if Joint Accounts were at parity with Personal accounts, specifically with Plus/Premium tiers, we’d be able to stop looking.
I was just looking at the Plus/Premium, the thing is that both myself and my partner use our joint account as our main one (wages paid and our savings there visible to us both) the personal accounts are more for treats and occasional use. In this scenario Plus/Premium are pretty worthless, as most features would be on an account only used occasionally and contains little money.
Some offering allowing Plus/Premium on a shared joint account would be perfect, even say offering it at a 50% increase e.g. Plus Joint for £7.50 a month rather than £5. This seems something that should be easy to offer and I’m sure would result in quite a few subscriptions.
Entirely agree with everything you say. Probably going to cancel monzo plus for this reason
I agree…
I’d like a Monzo family solution. We have a premium account with another bank which we pay heavily for many benefits, but the benefits work for my family… phone cover covers all our phones… family travel insurance, worldwide roadside support. We only really use our joint account, personal account is used by accident if at all!
I’d love the children to have teen Monzo accounts that I can oversee in a similar way to their go Henry…
I’ve moved my business accounts to Monzo as I can enhance my product, but I don’t see the same benefits to my personal finances with this offering.
ok, I’ve tried Starling joint accounts hoping to be able to customize the categories. They don’t let you neither… so I don’t see the point to move away from Monzo. @davidwalton probably you are right, they do more things well than badly.
In my case I care only about a feature: customizable categories for join accounts so then I can import them into my accounting software (GnuCash) and don’t need to spend time on it placing each transaction in the right account…
Are you aware of any UK bank that let have that “simple” feature ?
Just adding my voice here as I’m also really keen for this feature to be rolled out in Monzo - particularly the creation of custom budgeting categories in Joint Accounts. Hoping that the more people post here, the more it gets bumped up the development agenda.
Hi @Abishek & welcome
Thanks for the extra backing - the more votes, the more visibility (no guarantees though )
I don’t have a joint account (yet), but was happy to leave my vote too
Joint account opened. My dashboards days are numbered
Are you moving over your RSPCA donations?
I think I’ll make sure that remains personal to me.
