Monzo doesnt work at Asda petrol pump

Asda is Basildon Essex still not allowing transactions from Monzo :confused:

I went this evening and it worked :partying_face:

However it is only showing the £1 preauth transaction and not the rest. I’ve never seen this before because it has always been instant :pensive:

I did it for Tesco a couple of weeks ago and it definitely settled a day or two later that time

Did not get a new notification from Monzo, but my over £15 rule for IFTTT did fire me off an email (would prefer a new notification personally, but I got something at least!)

I find ASDA a lot slower than others for the settlement, anything up to about a couple of working days where as Tesco is normally same day.

I used my card yesterday at Asda pump, and balance has updated already with the full amount not just the £1 pre auth. Seemed to work ok

We do support partial approvals - we see a small trickle of them coming through, mostly from international retailers at the moment though.

Always use Asda PAP, with RBS took 3 days to update longer if done on a Friday, Monzo is the £1 pre-auth (currently) then generally overnight full amount taken, always been the same for me since Mondo :wink:

Sorry we haven’t updated this thread recently. Here’s the latest.

ASDA briefly blocked some cards at their petrol stations, including ours. But as far as we know, they’ve now lifted the block. If anywhere is still rejecting our cards, they probably just need to update their terminals. Or the staff simply might not know.

So please let us know about anywhere where you spot this still happening. And we’ll chase them up. Thanks!

Tried to buy petrol this morning at Asda in Barry, South Wales. Card rejected x2. Had just used in store and was fine.

I’d recommend that you open an in app chat conversation so they can take a look what the cause is.

What you’ve described is a little too vague so it would be a massive gamble to guess that this is the start of the above kicking off again :slight_smile:
