I really woukfnt be surprised if Samsung pulled a Sony and paid Sky to keep it exclusive for a period to help push their phones.

Yeah it’s trivial based on IMEI. It has happened in the past.

Vodafone try and limit SA access. On my Honor phone the option to enable SA is hidden when my Vodafone SIM is active. As long as your account shows the SA add-on then you can use it on any phone providing you can work out how to enable it. Be interesting to see what Sky do to try and limit it. Maybe they are getting ready for a wider fruity launch next month.

I’m looking for a cheap number to use only for messaging apps. I don’t really need calls or data, just a number that can receive the verification SMS and stay active long-term without a monthly plan.
Any recommendations for PAYG SIMs/eSIMs? Saw Giffgaff only needs to top up once every few months

I’ve got a spare Giffgaff number that I put some credit on a few years ago, and I’ve never topped up since. I just have to send a text from it every so often to keep it active.
Only use a paid service at least once every six months. Can be a text, call or data.
Your £10 top up can literally last you more than 15 years.

Do they have a speed cap and do they accept/send shortcode sms?

Went with Giffgaff. Had to order their SIM, top it up and then turn it into an eSIM. Couldn’t get a eSIM from the app as it was forcing me to get a plan instead of just having credit in the account
Not this, but I use the Honest Smart Sim as my secondary line. Pretty helpful at times (as a Three customer)!

I cant think I have used one in years, I get plenty though for verification texts but I am guessing you are sending to them?
Such as entering competitions and stuff.

Would getting a PaYG sim with £10 on a main network work? just send from that and use whatever e-sim you want as your main.
I only ever enter make me a winner now and then tbh, no major.
Mozillion didn’t support it and I found it inconvenient.
I have a payg O2 sim running in the background.
Surprised how good the coverage is in Chester now, 5G everywhere on O2 almost, even back of the pubs.
O2 is good where I am (other networks not rolled 5g yet 
) but in Edinburgh it was terrible. Decent 5g signal but data was generally shockingly bad.
It’s so variable in areas now between networks. Here Vodafone is the worst network by a mile. Decent for calls but shocking data (<8mbps) and the three purchase won’t help much with the mast layout either as three had terrible coverage but a bit better data @ 20mbos generally but late at night it could hit 80.

Does Vodafone have better 2G signal than 3?
My SMARTY SIM if it can’t get a solid 5G / 4G connection, it will just die.
Whereas my VOXI SIM will attempt to work on E (idk what the iOS equivalent of this would be).
