If I’ve read things correctly, we should see this tonight!

It’s in the next TF release. Should be in prod release next Monday. (says this now and it gets missed off the release!
)
Any idea what will happen with those people who still have the same card as their sole account card?
You should have a feed notification in you JA feed offering you a new JA card if you want it
Pots!
Sorry I misread this as thinking these features were also launching. But just read the original post and see these are all ‘coming soon’
I was also of the same mindset as this in I thought labs would continue to see feature enhancement before it moved to public release. Though considering labs is available to all I guess it already was a public release. You just had to search for it instead of it being offered
There are lots of non lab features that feel like lab features. It seems each week the app gets updated, features get added and bolted on and more and more of which are getting burried in clunky menu designs etc…
I’d rather they skip a few weeks of features and think about making the whole interface a bit more user friendly.
As has been mentioned in this thread, the account switcher is the most bolted on “feature” I’ve seen. No thought to UX at all…it’s horrible but they did it to get to market quickly…if it was still branded as a lab feature then yes this would be acceptable but not for a full release. The comments from the thread have been ignored and it’s been released anyway!
Like my momma says “If you’re going to do a job, do it properly”
This is amazing news!
Don’t forget to update your FAQs
It would be great to have notifications on for my normal account but disabled for my joint account, that way when my phone buzzes I don’t instantly worry about my card as I know my wife uses the joint account regularly.
I agree with of the comments above which are about Lab testing and would say that personally, I would’ve like to see some visible changes based on the feedback before a feature graduates from Labs.
In this Joint accounts instance, A lot of folks commented about switching between accounts not being as smooth as it could be but it’s not changed at all. We know Monzo are working on that but that work would’ve been good to completed before a wider release along with other features mentioned above by @Frankiejr
Is it possible to have a joint account without a personal one? This is essential for some couples.
It’s not currently - Curious as to what makes you think it’s essential for some couples?
I don’t tend to use my personal card, so it’s tucked away in a drawer at home.
Is there an easy way to move the Direct Debits and Standing orders I have on my personal account over to my joint account?
Not at present, CASS doesn’t support same bank to same bank so the only way is manually.
This isn’t about being grateful or ungrateful - it’s about having a product that is useful and works.
The majority of users will need CASS and Overdrafts, these are key use cases and I’m surprised they were not prioritised above almost anything else.
It’s worth remembering that we are buying a service here, like it or not you pay for that service somehow (in the case of overdrafts, fees, otherwise with your money being used for investments etc) - if the service can’t do what’s required, people won’t buy it.
I mentioned this as a feature too. You shouldn’t need CASS to transfer these things between accounts. Or at least I’m sure that not how my current back does it. And they offer it online as a ‘Transfer to x account’.
We’ve loved testing this in labs, all of our direct debits have been moved (manually) and today my first pay packet has arrived without any problems! We’re loving everything about Monzo, keep up the good work! (And hurry up with joint account pots, we need them badly)
I’d say being in Android Beta/Testflight is very similar - you get a feature early and things may break but it’s not going to undergo substantial change before release.
But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Just as their methodology is lots of small changes, I’d expect Joint CASS to be beta tested just as it was for single accounts. Holding back the whole account system because CASS has bugs would annoy some as it would to release joint accounts without CASS to others.
It would be nice to be able to put a note with the transfers into a joint account. I.e £20 transfer “petrol”
No need to then follow up with a WhatsApp saying I’ve put that petrol money into the joint account etc.
My other half made a valid point today regarding Pots for the Joint Account.
We are in the process of buying our first home and are using the joint account to hold all our funds. I suggested when we go on holiday in September to use the joint account, rather than ‘you pay for this and I pay for that’.
She said however she wasn’t comfortable that a lot of the money could be compromised (she’s one of these who sees the ‘contacless fraud’ videos and worries
) and can’t be ringfenced in Pots. I think once Pots are available for the JA we’ll be able to make the most of the account, or when we exchange and have no money left anyway!
