Making cash deposits

I recently used switch to monzo and moved all my direct debits and standing orders from my old account, to monzo! I couldn’t be happier and I feel so much more in control of my money

Here’s the issue
The switch to monzo finished the day before my birthday, and suddenly I had birthday money to cash in. How could I get that into my bank?
I can’t.

My idea is;
What if I could go into any shop and use cash to pay for a Monzo voucher? Either a physical card but I argue it would be more cost effective to have a redemption code printed on a receipt, that i could then use the monzo app to redeem this?

No need for a branch, no need to mess around with Cash Deposit ATMS and no need to visit a post office.
Any shop that sold them would become a way to deposit cash and what’s better is that I wouldn’t have to make a special trip to do so. I just pick one up as I pass the check outs.

Little bonus but unrelated, small change could be deposited too, maybe directly into the coin jar? Or those people who work in hospitality would be able to deposit their tips into their accounts too!!

This is something that’s being worked on as we speak for later this year. Most likely with an integration with the post office or similar.
There is a thread where Monzo was gathering info on how people like to pay in cash and how often, I’ll link below:

For now the best way to get cash into your account is to deposit it with another bank account and carry out a bank transfer.
