This might be a known issue, but it seems golden ticket distribution thru FB messenger is not working. Tried twice, with two different tickets with my friend and both times it thinks the un-used ticket has been expired. When trying the second ticket thru email, it worked. Could be worth checking up on this? I think this has been mentioned somewhere else in the forum too.

I reported this to support recently. It seems that Messenger is stripping the information off of the end of the link that actually has the Golden Ticket ID in it.

Yeah knowing facebook I wouldn’t be surprised if they remove all querystring data which is a tad bit stupid considering how important that information is sometimes

I think it’s just utm_* querystrings that are stripped. There are commonly used for analytics tracking. For some reason Monzo use these for the Golden Ticket info

I expect the UTM parameters are what Monzo’s using to link the golden tickets to our accounts for attribution aka this sort of thing -

Unable to use my Monzo card on the M6 Toll road in Birmingham, UK. Assuming it needed authentication before allowing me to pass through the gate.


Monzo card not accepted on
They say the accept debit cards only, but since Monzo has that shiny sticker on the back with β€˜Debit’ written on it, I was hoping it will take it.


Guildford Station (South West Trains) have replaced the card readers in the ticket machines, and added contactless pads: tried using contactless this morning and it wasn’t accepted (no declined notification in Monzo app). PIN pad worked fine.

Toll roads tend to be offline payments, which Monzo currently doesn’t play with very well!

Very minor buglet: I had an active card check by Kickstarter and because of that my β€œToday” display on the top right of Android shows β€œToday Β£xx.xx + $0.00”. I think if the value if 0.00, then it shouldn’t show that currency (as I’ve also had 0.00 Euros spent today and 0 Yen…)

I’ve been using my card on the East Midlands trains website daily for months but this week I keep getting a system error message from them. I don’t get the issue with my other cards though. Any possible reason?


The system error message says what?


You’ll probably get more useful answers if you speak to customer services.

So, the site cycles through the verification process then dumps me back at the card details entry screen. Underneath the card details fields, in normal sized red text it says β€œdue to a system error your payment was unsuccessful”.
I’ve also this morning had issue with RingGo car parking website, again it cycles through verification then gives me a message saying β€œpayment unsuccessful please review card details”. I’ve previously used both sites with no issue and haven’t had a change of card or account.
The common factor is both sites use Verified by Visa or SecureCode and that seems to be declining the transaction. Several minutes after trying to use RingGo I got a notification through the Monzo App that the payment had been declined (3 times for the 3 failed attempts). Balance on the card is Β£240 so funds is not the issue. I also haven’t had any issues using my card in stores or cash points.
Hopefully this is either temporary or fixable, I use the train website almost everyday for travel to work.

Yes that would be the reason, the prepaid cards don’t support 3DS, although the debit cards will.

Also bear in mind that Monzo is experiencing an outage at the moment so all card payments are failing. You can check for updates here -

It’s probably related to the outage, although it’s been happening since Monday.
Also, as I mentioned I’ve used both sites, and Verified by Visa etc, since getting my card months ago and this is the first time there has been an issue. I find it hard to believe that it’s the card after so long with no problems.

Thank you for the awesome feedback today regarding the outage you experienced. I had a notification warning me to use a different card which was good to know. Turns out I forgot about this and went and used my card and it worked, you had already resolved the problem by this point according to another notification I had yet to notice… :zzz:

Think of before update: Kuala Lumpur, 50470, Malaysia but after update: 116 X Street, Kuala Lumpur, 50470 without reference to Malaysia at all. That’s difficult when making analysis based on country visited
