Joint account budgeting

Two key features that would improve budgeting when using a joint account and a personal account:

1 - have an option to have a separate spending target on trends for your joint account and personal accounts (personal current/ savings and credit cards)

2 - more options for custom time intervals to review instead of just months or calendar years

My wife and I use the joint account to manage our household spending and a joint pot to pay our bills and mortgage directly from. We also both have credit cards and Monzo personal accounts on the extra plan.

I really like using the trends tab to monitor personal spending but it doesn’t seem possible to have a separate spending target for joint account vs personally accounts. In order to do this you would have to manually change the target each time.

I also think it’s a shame you can only see spending in months or calendar years . If you could have a custom date range or the past year months not limited to calendar years that would be really useful.

I’m glad you can now export joint account spending to google sheets but it would be nice to do this within the trends app.

This is bizarre to read- separate spending targets for joint account was there and did work til recently- I went for a catchup last night (where I can check through previous months on the budgeted categories, and pull in money for anything marked “Expenses” from savings)- and when you’re in joint account transactions list, pressing the pie chart icon at the top takes you to a list of categories and spending for the current month on the joint account, that’s fine. But if you click the drop down in the top/middle to change month (or even reselect the current month) the totals reflect the personal account not the joint account.

This is obviously a serious bug and I can’t believe it hasn’t been fixed with urgency, there’s no point me being on Monzo without this feature which was SO USEFUL. Sort it out, Monzo!!

Hi @Scb & welcome

When you press the pie chart icon, you’re accessing the ‘Summary’ feature. Summary development stepped ages ago and was replaced by ‘Trends’, so I’d start using Trends as much as possible because at some stage (:soon:), Summary will disappear*

*Although it’s still here years after Trends landed.
