iPhone Upgrade Programme

Bit of an one!

So me and @ohitsdough went to Upgrade our iPhones to the 8 and they couldn’t process it with Monzo set as the bank for the direct debit for the iPhone upgrade programme (Barclays Finance hosted).

However @ohitsdough has updated his bank details to take payments from his Monzo CA so I’m not 100% sure why it wasn’t excepted.

Did they say explicitly why Monzo’s details couldn’t be accepted?

If it was a sort code error, I’d suggest reporting in chat and talking to Apple support first and if that doesn’t work, talk to BACS directly

No actual error was displayed against it! The guy who was doing it got the manager involved and it didn’t highlight the bank details as an issue just came up with a generic “Cannot process application” error.

As soon as I put my nationwide details in though it went straight through!

I had the same issue. I knew all my other details were correct so I changed to my Nationwide account and it was fine.

@billinghamj has confirmed on slack that you can contact Barclays to change to your Monzo account.

Do you know if you can do it before the first payment? As in store they said that you couldn’t

As James said it was just that it didn’t accept Monzo. I don’t know why as I was upgrading after already being on the upgrade programme and was using my current account for my monthly payments. The T and Cs said you had to be with your bank for at last 3 years so that may be why- a little odd though.

Odd… I transferred my DD without any issue.

Apple did say at the time their systems couldn’t accept Monzo for the deposit (which annoyed the genius who was selling me the phone as he had a monzo card as well) so I had to get cash. I wouldn’t expect such issues to be a problem with the current account though.

I should be able to transfer it after the first payment but they wouldn’t let me apply for the finance and run a credit check using my Monzo details.

They all seem to be users

Timed right although barclays partner finance (who do the apple stuff) accepted the direct debit form a week ago for Monzo, they haven’t set it up yet and today I missed a phone call from them…

Trouble brewing…

I changed my existing iPhone Upgrade Programme payments to my Monzo CA so it shouldn’t be an issue.

Yer and so did @ohitsdough which is why it’s made me question it and if I fill out the form and change it again I’m sure it will be accepted.

Just don’t know who to mention it to if it’s an apple bug or a Barclays bug
