iOS 16

I know that.

For the 16.4 beta everything was fine. The 16.5 beta has gotten wise to me.

Yes - I have a paid developer subscription and the 16.4 RC removed the installed profile.

It’s a lot handier just being able to switch betas on and off rather than messing about with profiles then having to reboot.

Having bricked a device in the past on the first developer beta of a new iOS, this may not be a bad thing!

Again, I know that. I don’t need this explaining to me.

I guess I’m not being clear.

I stopped paying for my developer account years ago, but due to some glitch still had access to the profile downloads (there’s at least one other person on this forum that got the same glitch). On top of that, the new method for Apple to authenticate devices for the dev beta still worked in 16.4 for me.

This however has now changed this week with 16.5. That’s what I’m apparently failing to say.

Me too but I think this is a good move from Apple, personally. While you and I accept the risks, I imagine there are many who do this, brick or damage their device and then go and winge at apple as a result.

I was just making conversation

Well, I guess I now know how it feels for women when I mansplain things.

But you don’t know though, do you?

Could they pull the 1 month forward accepting the fact people previously just did it anyway? Maybe a week or so to ensure no show stopping bugs.

I really like this idea!

Makes no difference to me because I rarely use the control centre.

So many people going on about how important the mute switch is. I set it to silent when I get anew phone and then never touch it again.

In the grand scheme of things, it isn’t 1% as useful as something like… a camera button!

The volume buttons double as camera buttons so that one is ticked off :white_check_mark:

I like the manual silencer button as you can easily check your phone is silent without engaging with the phone. So before a meeting, during a lunch date etc. where you don’t want to look like you are checking your phone

But they don’t launch the camera.

And I’d wager that most people have no idea that they can use the buttons as a shutter.

Ah gotcha yeah that’s true. But I have a camera button on my Lock Screen so it’s easy to access currently. If I had a physical button to launch the camera would I occasionally take a picture of the inside of my handbag?

A proper camera button like would also focus lock like it does on real cameras/old Nokia/Sony phones.

I like the silence switch a lot and I use it multiple times a day, but OnePlus’ silence slider is way better (it does normal/silent/do not disturb) and I wish Apple would copy that instead of making it a trigger for control centre or whatever.

Do phones still have sliders?

Can’t remember the last time I made a phone make a noise other than YouTube :sob:

Only iPhones and OnePlus phones these days. OnePlus made one model without it (the 10T) and their community wasn’t happy so they put it back on the 10 Pro and the 11.

Yeah that’s fair enough tbh, a lot of people just leave their phones on silent. I have notifications turned off for most apps so I like to hear when I get a notification from the ones I still have turned on

If my phone ever made a noise I’d probs ignore it naturally.
