Me, I couldn’t take it anymore
Stuck with the change, I love it, especially how it evolved throughout the betas, couldn’t go back now
Since the new safari update I’ve moved to that instead of chrome. I love the tab swipe across the bottom, keeps my 3 main pages active.
Yes same issue. Watch is very buggy and draining the battery significantly
I’ve stuck with the safari layout as I mostly like it BUT I have probably tried to DDOS a few websites as I keep thinking it’s not loading the next page when I click a link. My brain is so used to seeing the taskbar at the top pop up with the loading bar. I just keep tapping away like a muppet.
Swipe down to refresh is a life saver
A couple of great apps I’ve come across to take advantage of safari extensions in iOS 15.
Super Agent: Free, automatically accepts cookies to your saved preference. Stops the annoying pop up on every website.
Noir: £2.49 one off payment. Enables dark mode on all webpages. Follows system settings. Has options to disable the extensions dark mode in favour of the websites own dark mode (auto detects). Fully customisable for every website. Also supports family sharing if you have that for your family
What if you want to choose which cookies to accept? I usually deny all but essential ones.
If you go on Twitter and search iOS 15 safari extensions, there’s loads of posts reviewing new extensions! These are the first 2 I tried as well as the new 1password extension, which is also fantastic for anyone that uses 1password.
I’ll be sure to pop others in if I come across anymore
Feels like extensions are where the action is at this year.
I’m trying to be judicious in my use though, e.g. I had 1Password but in all honesty I think I prefer using it in slideover whilst browsing in Safari.
Yeah extensions are def one of the most exciting aspects of iOS 15 for me.
I am loving the 1Password one tbh. And I find it a very big help on iPhone specifically, as obviously saves having to exit safari etc.
Yeah you still have to install an app first. I guess maybe they could make an extensions store in the same way they did messages. But personally I think that really harms discoverability and I like that an app like 1Password can just be updated and automatically give me access to an extension.
Thinking about getting Noir too. Although wondering if I should go for the other one mentioned in that macstories article which supposedly has more colour options if it’s a bit off
Only problems I found with the 1Password extension is the ridiculous amount of steps it takes to unlock on an iPhone. I think it’s 5. Their solution was to set it to unlock for longer, like a week?!
Also I have 1Password unlock to handle each autofill (Face ID or master password), I don’t let iOS way to do the autofill (Face ID or device passcode). And the extension doesn’t allow for this. The setting I’m referring to is “always show 1Password Lock Screen for auto fill”.
For iPad I imagine it’s great all round. But for iPhone, I’d rather use the autofill that was there before. It’s much more secure but is a pain editing items as you have to swap in and out of 1Password and safari. I guess that’s the trade off though.
I hope they improve it
This is my favourite thing about Apple logins or sign up. So convenient
What I find really annoying about it is that when you come out of your work mode and go into your personal mode your work notifications go into that ‘While in personal focus’ notifications tray and I find it impossible not to click on it to see what someone’s just emailed me. When I’m not in work mode I don’t want to see my work notifications at all!
I think I have set it up right and this isn’t me being stupid?
If you go into Settings > Focus > Personal > Lock Screen, you can disable “Show on lock screen” and I think it stops showing any of the ones that you have permitted showing up
Yeah I have that turned off but they still show in my notifications like this which winds me up as I’ll always be tempted to look at them.
oh okay that’s actually hella dumb then, i guess there isn’t a way 🥲😭
